Yeah but BMW did it first while he was here with Yas Marina.
Exactly! There weren't a bunch of baby blue cars running around when Yas Marina Blue hit the scene, just like there weren't a bunch of copy cat flat grays prior to Audi's Nardo Gray.

Just out of curiosity, could you PS it with a body-colored front lip?
I think the carbon lip is the perfect transition between the paint and the glossy black bits. Not sure doing lower lip in paint will only empathize more those glossy black bits.

The new M2 breaks precedence, doesn't use conventional BMW design language, and breaks from the past in so many ways, that adding on design elements from past may not work IMO. The new M2 has its own character and design philosophy.

But let's see how it looks, maybe you are on to something
Agreed! I saw the front lip on the new X3 ///M and it caught my eye because it looked nothing like a traditional lip. It looked like something out of Star Wars, but it fit the design language of the new X3 ///M.

I joke and jest, but BMW is doing the right thing.
They have to make these cars stand out.

I was looking a late model s3 and, I think it was s6, and even though I really loved them both (the s6 in particular had some really nice wide body fenders, beautiful car)… they just don’t really catch no car people’s eye because of how classy they are.

Then I saw a 2022 or maybe 2023 wrx and the thing looked like it had just gone to subimods and said, “I’ll take one of everything.”

It had two visible cans from the read and 4 tailpipes. There was plastic on top of plastic everywhere and many, many triangles of various shapes and sizes. It was, frankly, a mess - in my opinion.

But, that’s what people want I think.
So, I think the m2 looks completely tame compared to that. I’m sure I’ll come around to it.

I’ve already begun to like the front end, and really I think they are doing the right thing because it has to stand out from the crowd - and the crowd is already looking crazy.

I saw the 3.0 CSL ‘73 in Gran Turismo and that car is gorgeous to me, partly because I know it, and partly because I love the look of cars actually made out of sheet metal. But, it’s a wild design. Back then it must have been crazy.

Looking at that car I can kinda see some similarity between it’s front end and what they are doing with the new g80.

The m2 is not so bad. I like to tease it, but it’s going to be a great car. This one looks pretty good actually.

These pictures are great!
I have this same issue with MB. C class, E, S, all mesh into one car for me.

If it was metallic or even a frozen paint I bet it would have a completely different look. As is, it looks like blue porcelain.

What's ironic is the BRZ came in a similar color and the WRX/BRZ had some of those M performance wheel things. Definitely not aggressive at all.
