MT will have auto rev matching? If so, can we disable it? I find bleeping the throttle to rev match on downshifts part of the enjoyment.

It's happened on multiple M cars from M5's to the last gen M2c/M3/M4. The radiator guards IMO are not very good. They offer some protection but are still susceptible. Bottom line, it's just a terrible design.

* PSA *
If you have a car that has an oil cooler underneath and hit anything from the underside of the car immediately pull over and inspect for any leaks. If you rely on the check engine light it'll be too late, your engine will be seized or damaged beyond repair by the time that comes on.

Yes. You should be able to disable it.

I much rather lose a radiator than a whole engine..

I saw this happen to a X5 M last summer. A large rock took out the oil cooler and killed the S63. I believe it had 17k miles.
Man that royally sucks and is kind of unusual on a vehicle such as an X5 with such a high ground clearance but I guess is why God invented auto insurance, with a Comprehensive endorsement.. I hope you where made whole again!

The damaged oil cooler syndrome has been a fact of life since BMW had the bright idea to place it in the undercarriage, where it's susceptible to road hazards. I've seen a couple of stories here comes and go and I suspect more to come in the future.

Oil Cooler Busted/under carriage issue **Update: Another member with similar damage** https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1082067

Oil Cooler Smashed - UPDATE 12/19: Increased to $35k in Damages https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1550991

The vehicle was not mine. It was a customer owned vehicle that was towed into a Southeastern BMW Center.

I will not disclose what the replacement cost was estimated to be. I know the number, it was in excess of half of the vehicle’s MSRP.
