As far as carbon roof and not having garage parking. Just get a quality ceramic coating done, it will block a lot of harmful UV's that causes this type of damage. Years of neglect is the major factor behind peeling carbon roofs. |

I have no dog in this fight, since I most-likely won't be buying a G87. Having said that, as someone who likes a moonroof; I don't like this decision form BMW.
The carbon roof should have been standard on this car IMO, with the option for a moonroof. I think since so many in the U.S. like the CF, BMW know they can make money on this. That what is seems like to me, but who knows . When the F87 first came out, there was no option for a moonroof. It wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I really didn't like that decision either. The option for a moonroof when it was offered for the LCI was $1050. Charging $2600 for a CF is because of the demand IMHO. |

Agreed as it is nearly impossible to argue against the above. |

If you want the CF roof standard it would simply increase the base price of the car, and not have the MSRP within a stones throw of F87 DCT. Would you rather the car be $64,xxx and have the roof standard? BMW knows not 100% of buyers want a costly option and ensured the base price stayed low for those that don't. |

In the US you get the Glass sunroof STD. I guess specific markets calculate their margins differently including possible loss leader options.

In case it is helpful to anyone, I’m 6’-2” and was worried about headroom clearance for a helmet with the moonroof (and really didn’t want to spend $2600 for CF). So I met up with somebody I know with a new M240i to check it out. I actually have plenty of room with my helmet (and Simpson Hybrid S). So moonroof for me now.
