Wheel Dilemma

So I'm in the order bank and my current spec is Alpine White with jet black wheels. I'm little tired of black wheels because I've had a bunch of them, but I'm just not sure the bi-colors well set off AW the way the black ones will. Anyone seen decent pics of AW with bi-colors yet? I can't seem to find any and the look doesn't inspire on the web builder.

As an aside, I thought I was going to go Portimao Blue with bi-colors but oops, BMW only gave us 5 colors to choose from.

There’s not a color in existence that looks better with jet black wheels

Not a big fan of the bicolor for these wheels, they look like they belong on a SUV more than a car. I would consider getting them for a BSM M2 to provide some contrast but not for other colors

Obviously subjective, but I prefer the bi-color option for the new M2 wheels. Same with the F8X M3/M4, the bi-color looks great. Congrats!

I got AW w/bi-color wheels.

After seeing tire specs I think the first thing I'll do after historic decals to cover the side sill is go 19in Apex wheels in gold all around with 285/35 on the back.

The front wheel looks out of place to me against the rear in person. I bet the rear tire lasts 8-10k miles if you baby it.

Whatever do you mean? I've been wondering when someone would get creative with the M2.

AW is begging for some livery. The rear of the side sill is heinous and some M colors would do well there.

I like the "50 years BMW M" look - I'm thinking of ways to lay down that badging with color stripes on the side sill, and an "M" or something on the square portion. Against Motorsport gold wheels I think it'll give it a racy flavor and not be so boring in white. Maybe on offset stripe on passenger side as well. I'm not looking for attention but I loved seeing those colors run around Daytona and Sebring for the last 25yrs

OP here again... The more I think about it, the more I think I might switch from AW to BG just to do something I haven't done before. Still disappointed in the color palate for sure.

If I can't wait for the center lock option (M2C maybe?) I'll spec the all black wheel. I can always paint them if I want.

This is a picture I took of M4 Comp XDrive Conv in AW w/bi-color. Just front end to see how the wheel color works

But these are not the same wheels as the M2. Half the spokes are silver on the M2 no?

I would like these (from the M3) on the M2.

Still hoping the 763s will fit the new M2

Gotcha. I can appreciate wanting to take the 50 year look to the next level. Could look amazing on AW. I had a clear M tricolor overlay vinyl on the CF roof on my F80. That was subtle enough until the colors came out in the sun. Looked good. I could see that complimenting the sill vinyl well, especially if you follow the crease line on the front fenders as a start. Can't wait to see people play around with the design.

I'm ordering BSM, and was thinking of doing something similar with clear/stealth matte vinyl. Almost like the "side spats" on the 911s. We shall see, have yet to see the thing in person.

Strictly my opinion: Black wheels look atrocious on about 98% of cars wearing them. The bi-color wheels will look fine on your car.

That said - this is a decision you can only make for yourself. Pick one or the other, be happy, and don't give a rat's ass what anyone else thinks.

100% agree and I definitely don't care what others think. It's just hard to make the decision without having seen the different options in person. But that's what you get for being at the front of the line I suppose.

Totally disagree with you. I have the black wheels on my Portimao Blue car, and I think it looks great. Each to their own at the end of the day…

I think both wheels will look great on any color. If you go with the black, you’ll lose the definition of the wheels but give the rest of the car a stark contrast which can look good. Versus, if you have the bi-color, you’ll get more of a traditional look, with the rims being more visually interesting to look at. Can’t go wrong with either.

And there is nothing to hold you back from getting aftermarket wheels if you don’t like either in the future.
