I don’t have a problem that the car is built in Mexico per se- what I have an issue with is that it’s going to be the first “M” car built in Mexico and me at least, I’d want to wait a few year or even two to ensure they’re up for the cast. M cars are the pinnacle of Bmw German engineering. Are they up for the task? You can say what you want about robots but at the end of the day it’s humans fine tuning the robots.

Plus side I imagine getting the vehicles state side will be faster- I heard the cs was going to be manufactured in Germany which speaks to something.

From a financial aspect it makes zero sense to build the same chassis for would distribution in two separate locations. I do not foresee that happening as there is so much more involved than production/assembly, mainly bringing the suppliers online at another build location.

The G87 CS will be XDrive only like the G80/2. It is up in the air as to which transmission(s) will be offered, but I suspect auto only.

This is why everyone avoids the 1997 Z3 M Roadster right? Oh wait, those are just as desirable as every other year. Maybe this mindset isn't always right.

No ‘97 MY M Roadster as U.S. E36/7 M Roadster production began in October of ‘97 as a 1998 model which had no ASC. The ‘99 model gained ASC.

OK, so change my post from '97 to '98 and my point still stands. It was a new model in a new plant with new workers...no one was or is avoiding the 98 M Roadster. No one questions the quality of a 98.

The E36/7 Z3 Roadster had been in production since the fall of 1995 and by the time the M Roadster arrived many of the QC issues had been pretty much ironed out. Sadly, the rear subframe issues were never addressed though.

Keep in mind that Plant Spartanburg was building E36 318i sedans prior to the Z3 launching. 318i production ceased when the Z3 launched. Demand for the Z3 was significantly higher than BMW had anticipated.

And similarly the San Luis plant has produced every 2 series coupe and now they produce all the 330 hybrids. We haven't seen any QC issues from either of those vehicles. The M2 is taking many components from the G8X M3/4 which is also a proven platform. I don't expect the M2 to be perfect but I am not worried about buying the first year M2. It will be fine.

The primary issue here is the caliper paint being very "solid". I think if the red or blue were any sort of metallic or finished with a gloss it would pass easily on any color.

I'm still thinking red on TR for me.

Many individuals use this logic for the brake calipers when spec’ing a priority one order.

Blue = Subdued

Red = Stand out

The brake calipers being easily noticeable was a thing, but it appears we might be moving away from that? Example, another German manufacturer offers black calipers at $900. It is currently a very popular option, especially on vehicles that are paint to sample. Most clients prefer that their $12k paint to sample be the main focus and not the calipers. I greatly appreciate that and if we had individual paint for the G87 I would want to follow that direction as well.

I like gold/bronze options for this reason - they can compliment rather than "steal the show". IMO

Right now I have red calipers for my Brooklyn Grey G87 build but thinking about switching to blue. I like the red but everyone does red and blue looks good against a grey body color as well

Agreed. We see very few BGs ordered with the blue calipers. 90+% have the red calipers. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that unless you are looking to be different.

Are all M2s built to be received by Mexico going to be automatic? I was building one and did not see a 6MT ?

The six speed manual is the default transmission. The automatic is a no cost option.
