I think I am just going to go with the carbon buckets.

My wife and I work from home 3 out of the 5 days during the week so since I would not be driving it too much, I do not think I would mind going for them. I just do not like the look of the M3/M4 seats or the seats that were in the video.

I am perfectly fine with those, the second choice.

They just look so good.I sat in them at my dealer when the M3 was released a couple of years ago and they are very comfortable.Getting into the seat is no problem but it takes a little bit more effort to get out of them.I will definitely be ordering them.

I hope they look exactly like the ones that were shown in the test cars. They appear to not have the perforated holes like the M3 and have nicer stitching IMO.

Not 100% sure it reads like that. In the post he is listing exterior colors and interior colors. Three interior colors, not three seat options.

Interior colors: Cognac, black w/blue stitching, and one new design(or color combo).

More than likely the new design could very well be what is on the buckets in the test mule. Top picture in the post #25. If so, we have already seen two of the interior color options listed by ynguldyn.

The Alcantara/Sensatec Blue/Black seats posted earlier are the Sport Seats, which if you look closely are the same seats that are the only choice in the US M240i, just with a different upholstery, despite the M Sport Seats being available on the M240i in Europe. If you recall, the OG M2 had a similar scheme - with the same seats as the M235i/M240i but upholstered uniquely, although when the Competition rolled around the full M and M Competition seats came as well.

If our experience with the i4 M50 has been any indication, it looks like the M Sport Seats may not be available in the US for this model despite them being available on the model in Europe. The rationale given here has been that BMW has not crash tested the M Sport Seats in the G26 and I expect a similar reason to be given for the G42.

What only BMW can tell you is whether that is truly the case, or whether they're driving some additional differentiators between the M Performance and the full M models and stretching out their lifecycle.

My best guess is that if it's truly a crash test expense and the M Sport Seats have not been certified on the 2er, BMW will only go out and certify one more seat type for the US, and that will be the much more expensive carbon bucket seat as I'd guess the upcharge for the M Sport Seats would not make sense.

Damn crash testing causing all sorts of problems for us in the US. I know I'm simplifying, but they should be able to look at the seats and their dimensions, see that they passed safety requirements in other models and move on. Especially compared to the crap seats other manufacturers offer ha.

I think people need to start realizing we have more likely seen the two seat options. As well as two of the interior colors ynguldyn has said will be available.

Yes, at least in Europe, there will be three seat options, each with different upholstery. ynguldyn is right.

G2x M Sport Package seats, G8x M Sport seats, G8x non-CSL M Carbon Bucket seats.

Ynguldyn post was about exterior and interior colors. Not seat choices. Only seat choice he directly referred to was buckets and they only being available w/ full merino interior. Other info was the listed three seats colors and materials. Three seat colors are: Cognac, black/blue, and new design(which is seen on the mule carbon buckets, M-colored theme).

Yes, and Alcantara/Sensatec is for M Sport Package seats; Vernasca Cognac and Black for M Sport seats and Merino for buckets.

I know I have stated in the past about me wanting to get individual paint for the G87 but alpine white with red buckets is looking pretty damn nice.

All three will be available for the US market?

Not official at all for any markets. We have only seen two seat options so far. Definitive info on Msport seats has yet to be seen.

ynguldyn Do you have any info on whether there will be three seat choices and in what markets?

Other than the Head of M saying it'd be an option. Again, this doesn't necessarily mean which market.

Agree or which model(base or comp or both). Dirk Hacker(BMW M Head of Engineering) said the Msport seat from M3/M4 will be standard. It is looking like that is not going to be true. It wouldn't be the first time someone misspoke.

Mentioned before in the thread. If actual Msport seats in 2series require additional crash testing. I don't see BMW offering three seat options in the US.

Having driven the current M4 with the carbon bucket seats, entry and exit may present issues if you're not as nimble as you might wish. Driving a 6MT - if the pedals are as offset as they are in the F87 - could be irritating. I like the M2C seats both to look at and to drive in, so I guess it's a case of wait and see.

Is there any possibility of snatching the carbon buckets from like a M3 or M4 flood/salvage car and just plugging them in and replacing the badge to "M2"? I'm thinking I want stand-alone buckets.
