Did you use squeegee to release some of the clips? Or just as a pry tool.

We used a pry tool to pop the caps off. Takes a bit of a tug.

Make sure you're using something with a lot of surface area, the mirror isn't too cold and leverage the glass slowly.

I just completed this. My initial thought was one could access the 2 inner clips without removing the mirror. All the way turned in, you can see the outer clip. When I turned the mirror all the way out, with the window up, it would be impossible. I aborted the investigation there, as I felt I could easily scratch something trying to pop the clips out with the mirror on.

I then went and popped off the mirror. Thank you for posting this video, as I just followed by turning the mirror all the way up, then I grabbed one of my nice and thick rubber spatulas. I wrapped the spatula in a thin, microfiber towel, turned the spatula sideways, and wedged the mirror carefully while it popped off the clips. It actually was really easy and at no moment did I feel like I was going to break the mirror. Definitely a great pro tip on how to remove! As a side note, I live in Pittsburgh and it was freezing cold the last week, luckily now warmer. I used a blow dryer to heat the air around the mirror and to slightly raise the temperature of them, as they were still very cold to touch and was about 40 degrees F with my digital thermometer (50 degrees in the garage and 60 outside, so also opened the garage door to get some warm air in too).

I wrappped the mirror in the thin microfiber towel and just let it hang from there. You can easily see the 2 clips from there and popped them out.

Through the whole process, the only slightly uncomfortable feeling I got was getting the last clip that is in the wing part off. I tried to bend it back enough to see the clip, and you can, but would probably search up your hands pretty bad trying to reach a trim tool back there. I decided to pull up the video and watch this moment again. Again, pro tip given in video, you really just turn it towards the car and it comes off itself. From there you just have 2x T10 screws to remove the light, and then replace you had taken off using the same technique of turning, but in the opposite way when putting on.

All and all, with assessing to see if I could remove them with the mirrors on, then completing the whole process, this only took an hour. If I would have done this before, or if you know someone that has, I’m confident it can be done in 30 min.

I hope this additional information helps ease the minds and build some diy confidence out there!

Pro tip is definitely to heat the glass as you mentioned also. The glass is notorious for cracking in the cold. Once the glass is off, the change over is a breeze.
