2-way communication enabled? Hard pass. I drive my car to have moments of peace...not to hear my wife say "pick up some milk and tampons while you're out."

I felt that. I'm not married, but have a live-in GF. She definitely needs at least something from anywhere she discovers I am going to be within 5 mile radius of.

There's an option (subscription or one-time purchase) for the car's inbuilt cameras to function as a dash cam. Costs a bit more but seems worth it to me for the integration.

Requires plugging into the obd2 port.
If you ever want to get a jb4 then forget about it since you can only have one device plugged into the port at a time. Plus it’s ring, I wouldn’t trust them with driving data. Next thing you know they are reporting your speeding to local cops |

Doesn't seem that great tbh because whats the point of an interior camera? a set of 2 cameras for both front and rear seems way better. Not trying to be ignorant, but genuinely have no idea.

Im thinking of getting it. The lower dash mount has me wondering if it will cause any visibility issues.

Could you share some more info about this, please? Or, where can I read more about this option?

Have you connected it and gone through all the menus/options? I do not remember which menu it was under, so let me know if you can't find it. I'm on iD7, not sure how it works with iD8?
BTW, I noticed there's a new 60mb data update available, but not sure what all it includes. |

Finally found it on the BimmerCode website. Previously I found it by going through the different BMW models (M3, M4, Z4, etc.) and seeing what all was available/different while connected to the car. In this case it was under "2 Series, M2" (F22, F23, F87) and then under "Alarm system".
I disabled the OBD alarm to prevent it from going off while car is locked and something is plugged into the OBD2 port, which if I remember correctly it would not sound the car's alarm, but would flash it's lights. I also disabled the interior motion detection as the alarm would go off when I had the moonroof vented and car locked (windy day). https://bimmercode.app/cars/f22/ |
