Exposed radiator with ZTK package?

I had to check the underside of the car the other day and I noticed to my horror - that the radiator is sitting totally exposed.
I do have the ZTK package, so this is probably part of that.

I am being told that this is supposed to have no cover. Can anyone who has the ZTK package (or Canadian equivalent of it) confirm that this is not covered indeed?

I have major doubts that such a fragile part would just sit in that position/place without any protection.

This is shot of what the front end of my car looks like from under it.

I am aware of this image from the other thread, but not sure if this car has ZTK:

That’s actually an oil cooler specific to the ZTK. I can confirm mine has no cover either (US car).

Thank you for confirming.
This is phenomenally dumb though. May work great on super-smooth roads in Florida, but not for Canada - with all the salt/slush/debris/etc on the roads.
I will have to think of some sort of custom protective mesh for it. At least protect from stones, if not from salt/snow.

It’s the exact same on the G20 3-series. There were a few threads over in their forum as well. I think one user even ended up creating a metal guard? I don’t remember exactly since the thread was from like 2020.

I think it’s a dumb design on BMWs part, one of the reasons I opted not to option that package.

I'm really getting a dose of how ignorant I am today! I thought all G42's had this oil cooler, as I have not seen any differences in oil capacity between ZTK and non-ZTK packages. You've looked under your car and can confirm you do not have this horizontal radiator?

Also found out the front brakes are significantly smaller on the non-ZTK, so that makes me happy I opted for the package.

Yes this is how the package is for all cars. Don't forget that is the enhanced track package. It is designed to improve performance for the racetrack where there is no debris to mess it up. i do not recommend this package unless my customer plans to track the vehicle on the weekends.

If you think there is no debris on a track, you've never been on a track.

Yup, just checked and I definitely do not have the additional oil cooler on my non-ZTK spec.

From what I can tell, there seems to be no difference in oil capacity (in regards to draining and refilling) whether or not the package is spec’ed.

The wheels, larger rotors+calipers and fender flares sold me on the package. Just wish the oil cooler could be de-optioned.

But damn if the car doesn't run cool while cruising across New Mexico at 120 mph!

I expected to see the oil temps climb, but they drastically dropped.

Has anyone ACTUALLY measured the disc on your ZTK option?

Never mind. Just saw the other thread.

Speedtherapy schedule for 2023 came out this week
I just booked 5 sessions for this summer at Mosport. Will split sessions with the Boxster. Will be an interesting comparison.

Yes, I was thinking unless you actually run over something or are over zealous on a speed bump, does much stuff get flicked up under the car that could damage the cooler? Agree the wheels could catch something but this cooler is in front of the wheels.

Most frontal damage I would imagine is caused by stones from vehicles in front? And keep in mind, your main radiator / windscreen is right in the firing line for that sort of stuff!
