Looking at a 2020 M240i

Hi everyone

I am a previous owner of a 2018 440i xDrive GC, with MPPSK. I totaled it last weekend. And I am so sad. I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved driving that. The car was amazing, but the MPPSK just took it to that level. I put a lot of work and money into that car and I am just so lost.

Looking for a replacement, but the market is so high right now. Something that caught my eye was the M240i x Drive.

It's smaller, but I like that it looks more aggressive with the rocker panels, and lines. But, it is small. And I HATE the tiny little exhaust pipes.

Additionally, the 2020 M240i that I am looking at is a convertible. Not really thrilled about THAT either haha. But the hard top coupe of this series is kinda like a Toyota tercel . . boring looking.
I see that it has about the same HP as my 440i with MPPSK, so that is very cool. What about the exhaust sound? Fun to drive? Any feedback from other owners? I know that it will not sound like MPPSK. That was a dream! But I. really don't feel like dumping $4k into a car again, to get it. And finding a used BMW with MPPSK is like a needle in the haystack. MPPSK is just not listed and you have no idea.

Anyways, I was hoping to hear some feedback on some of the other M240i owners and their comparison in the driving experience to to other series, like the 440.

Wrong forum. The 2020 is the previous generation which is F22

This forum is for 2022+

I had a 2020 M240i convertible that I bought new. I kept it for 2 years and traded it this past spring when I ordered a 2022 M240i and ended up getting a 2023.

I thought I would like the 2020 one more than I did.

Pros: Plenty of power
Fun to drive, especially being a convertible

Cons: Steering and suspension
Lack of up to date technology
Basic interior
Exterior design

Comparing the two cars the 2023 is a vast improvement over the 2020

I was cross shopping the 2020 M240i and Audi S3 in 2019, not knowing the M240 design was coming. I almost went with the F22 M240 but when covid hit I put my purchase on hold. And then the G42 was released and could not be happier that I waited. The exterior design on the G42 looks 100x better than the F22, IMO. The only part I do like on the F22 is that it's smaller, like a 2-series should be.
