Hockenheim Silver compared to Brooklyn Gray
Yesterday I visited a BMW dealer that had a Hockenheim Silver F87 Competition. I really thought the color looked fantastic, had never seen it before. I wondered how much this color is like Brooklyn Gray. I looked on you tube and saw some poor pictorials of them side by side. The black and Carbon fiber really stood out on the F87.
Now I am thinking maybe Brooklyn Gray instead of Toronto Red. Has anybody seen these two color side by side? Hockenheim and Brooklyn Gray? |

Not very close.
Hockenheim is pretty much silver with red/orange flake while BG is a light gray/blue depending on lighting conditions. Might be able to snap a pic as I have a HS M2 on the lot. |

Game Would love to see some pics when you get a chance.
There was thread over in another forum which discussed this. Scroll down to see some examples: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1805231 |

I've only seen HS once up close IRL and I don't recall it having any red/orange flakes. Looked more like a small spattering of blueberry colored flakes to me. I remember the color was very dynamic depending on the lighting. In direct sunlight it looked whiter but in the shade it turned light grey with a slight blueish hue.

BG (on the right) looks a few shades darker than HS here.

Another really good comparison. I like how dark BG is when overcast.

This really shows the difference. I have a Melbourne Red E92 right now and an Alpine White X3 M40i right now, my F80 is Ruby Red. So I was trying to find something different, Hockenheim was great. I really like that color. Not sure on the Brooklyn Gray.

BG seems like its a darker version of the dull grey / blue I describe above. |

In my eye
HK silver is like a metallic Chalk While BG is akin to a metallic Nardo/Limerock Would prefer to see the g87 in a classic TiAg or Glacier silver

I guess I’ll have to take a closer look tomorrow. Definitely don’t recall it resembling any sort of blue.

I have owned both colors and they aren't even remotely close unless you can't distinguish colors.
Hockenheim is called silver but it really leans more like a weird white more than anything. BG is a very light gray that almost looks unprimed or pastelish in a way. There is no way one wouldn't see a major difference side by side. I would say HS is more unique but BG is perhaps a cooler color overall.
