BMW has gotten "less expensive" with inflation

Compare a 2003 325I verses a 2023 330I

Back then, you were in the low to mid 30's, and now, you are in the low to mid 40's. So still higher..

But the difference is, back then, American/Asian sedans were in the low/mid 20's so BMW was an "expensive car", even for a 3 series.

Now, the gap between a Camry and a 3 series is much smaller, so I think this is the simple reason why we see a lot more BMW's on the road than we did in the past.

Short Answer: BMW has actually gotten "less expensive" over the years.

These days a fully loaded Genesis (Hyundai) costs >= an similarly optioned BMW. Other manufacturers have definitely gone way up in price when compared to BMW.

Looked at optioning a new G70. When I saw the final configured price, I had to pass. I lived in South Korea for many years and drove many models. Many great cars. However, I was not going to spend 50-60 thousand for a Hyundai. Sorry, no disrespect meant. So, obviously, did not go with the G70!

I'm with you. For that money you can get a more respected brand with a much longer proven track record, and have a little pride behind the wheel. I could never drive a Hyundai/Kia or Genesis for those that want to argue it's not a Hyundai.

When I started this new car journey last year, I was looking at the Mazda3. I like hatchbacks and it had red leather seats. But after the dealer mark up fees, it’s was almost a $35k. The entry level BMW isn’t that far away. And then I started reading that the Mazda3 routors needed to be replaced at the 20-25k mile mark.

It was an easy decision
