Not getting OTA updates
Wondering if anyone has experienced or solved this.
My 2022 M240 is 2 updates behind, as confirmed with the BMW Genius. I am on software 11/2021.66. When in the app or in the car "searching for updates" it results in "no update available" or software is up to date on the MyBMW app. The advice from Genius was to bring it into the dealer, which of course I am not excited about. |

You will have to visit your dealers so they can load the update via their computers. Once you’ve missed one update (for whatever reason) you’ll never get another delivered OTA because the system only allows incremental installs.
Note, if you are going to your dealer, speak to your ConnectedDrive customer services (not the ‘Genius’ team - god only knows why they got called that!) and get them to do their bit first. If they can’t resolve it, you need them to send you an email that makes it clear that the only remaining option is for the dealer to do it; that way it can be covered by the warranty (it can take several hours to load the updates incrementally and a dealer is very unlikely to do it ‘in good will’)

Thanks. I was afraid this was would be the case. Though not sure how I would have missed an update.
When you say "ConnectedDrive customer services", are you referring to an option on the 1-844-4GENIUS line? Quote:

I’m assuming that you’ve created a ConnectedDrive account, as otherwise you couldn’t receive OTA updates. I’m in the UK and when I log into my account on my PC, it gives me contact details for the UK customer service. I have no idea what that number is you’re referring to, but I wouldn’t go anywhere near the ‘Genius’ team - waste of time!

Bought in March ‘22. No update. Went to dealer last Friday for 10k oil change and tire rotation. Didn’t mention update. No update was performed. Not bothered by it. Still drives like a champ.

if you really want the update, I suggest you bring it in to the dealer and tell them that you're 2 updates behind. they should be able to force an update for you.

Some dealers won’t do updates unless prompted to, as it has to either be authorised by BMW, or cleared for warranty work - it’s not cheap due to the time it takes.

Just got the following from UK ConnectedDrive customer services in response to my query as to why have I not received 11/2022 OTA update:
“Good afternoon Thank you for contacting BMW ConnectedDrive. There is a known issue with the Remote Software Upgrade. I would recommend getting in contact with your nearest BMW Centre where they will be able to do this software upgrade for you. Please click here to find your local BMW Centre. I hope this is helpful and if there is anything else I can help you with, please do not hesitate to let me know.”

Car booked in for 2022/11 update. Service manager told me that they have had quite a few cars across the range that have not received the update & BMW advised garage install.

So, after 2 hours of investigation by the service department and several calls later to the BMW Technical Department, it turns out that, regardless of what my ConnectedDrive account says and the email that I received from ConnectedDrive Customer Services telling me to take it to my dealer for the update, MY23 iDrive 8 cars are not going to receive the 2022/11 update!

I took my 2022 (year edited to correct previous typo) M240iX to the dealer today. They installed the 11/2022.63 version of the software. It didn't take too long at all.

Yesterday I also got mine 11/2022.63 for iDrive8.
No new features what I can see for now. No new font on the cluster (speed and others are still Times New Roman - not the BMW font) Logo is still M not M240i My Android Auto got reverted to the old version - no more coolwalk. |
