I am just finishing watching Harry’s Garage drive of the Ferrari Purosangue.

What can currnent BMW owners do to help BMW get the message? They should be chasing Ferrari design language… not Toyota.

I guess everyone skipping a “generation” of ownership would do it, but I’d hope it wouldn’t come to that.

Seriously, can BMW be helped?

BMW doesn't seem to care what customers think and they don't seem to be having a problem selling their cars, ugly grilles or otherwise.

BMW sales are the highest they've ever been. What exactly do they need help with?

And what exactly do you propose here? Should BMW build cars like they were from 90's? Design is a very subjective matter and what might work for one will not work for another. Luckily, there are options out there so you can get something else than BMW.

You’re wasting your time thinking of ways to convince BMW what to do—-they simply do not care what you think.

They are simply following the $$$, they are not enthusiasts they are a company made for profits—not for your nods of approval.

Plus, once we get outside the enthusiast communities, we may find (like some BMW users on the forums) that the latest BMW designs are getting more compliments than the previous generation models. I've noted this applies particularly to the 'divisive' M3/4 and 4-series models.

I've often heard folks saying something like, "BMW have the same old designs", or currently, "Good to see something fresh".

No bro. Just joking around. Some guys take the new grilles so personally that I find enjoyment in it now. Sorry.

This kind of reminds me of reports I’ve read from insiders about Southwest Airlines and recently retired CEO Gary Kelly. Southwest founder, Herb Kelleher, was all about operations and knew how to make things work. Gary Kelly is a bean counter and his sole focus was the bottom line and increasing profits and he pretty much ignored operational issues. And that worked for him throughout his tenure. But, then he left Southwest to get bit in the butt by his lack of attention to what actually made the company so successful. The new CEO is an operations guy and now he has to clean up the mess Kelly created.

^^ that’s more what I’m getting at.

I’m well aware that BMW doesn’t care about what I think. hahahaha…

Like SWA and SWA customers, BMW probably should be caring about what “we” think… unless all bets are on the one major emerging market.

If that’s the case, we can all just move on in time.

Has it ever crossed your mind or other hard core “BMW enthusiasts” minds that you/they might be in the minority when it comes to bad feelings towards the new designs especially the G80 and other vehicles with similar grilles? I think so many here, and in YouTube world are so convinced that they are the main stream that it has completely eluded them that possibility not everybody hates what BMW is doing. Because as we all know BMW sales are skyrocketing especially with the G80/82. Perhaps it’s time to rethink this?

It has crossed my mind. (I always look forward to interweb savior fisticuffs where we all assail each other with ignorance-saturated certainty.)

I love the G80… always have. It’s iconic. It’s also been on the street for 3 years, so it is not in this most recent crop of BMW designs that all share Toyota/Subaru-esque body lines.

Our opinions may certainly differ. I am of the opinion (pretty sure it’s obvious by the OP) that the most recent designs lack passion, art, or any feel of connection to BMW design heritage. The XM, M2, X1 new designs & body lines inparticular could be any vehicle manufacturer.

I’ve seen the XM and M2 up close, and they … are not inspiring (to me).

Id prefer a more porsche design philosophy, elegant and timeless yet they’re making more $$$$ then ever and still making the enthusiasts happy.
