I have had damage done to wheels on my M2C. However, since posting that, I have identified a shop near me that uses a hunter touchless and comes highly recommended.

I'm now less concerned.

Yes, the Hunter "Revolution" removes about 95% of that risk.

There's a "find equipment" search feature on the Hunter Engineering website HERE to find shops that have it, as well as other things like their road force balancing equipment.

There's a tire shop about 5 miles from me that uses both the Revolution and the Road Force Elite.

Even when I have specified for them to please be careful and state that the wheels cannot be replaced because they are either NLA or backordered someone screws up at least one.

Sadly, I have had a wheel damaged via a Hunter “touchless” machine. Apparently it is not fool proof when a fool is nearby.

I have the 4S on three performance vehicles and while it is a mind blowingly good tire there is always room for improvement. I am confident there has been several advancements in tire technology since the development of the 4S. If the tire has been out for six years then it probably had two or three years of development prior to its launch. The 4S is becoming a bit long in the tooth.

Yes agreed the Conti 7 had made huge inroads in many comparisons to the 4S and even pulls ahead in areas such as wet road performance. At that rate of innovation I'm more excited for the next Conti then the next Miche, unless they've been toiling for all those years and pull out something special.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. It seems like (imo) the tire-cycle is Michelin releases a tire that blows everyone else out the water, everyone else plays catchup for a few years and just as they're starting to encroach, or, as you say, surpass it in certain aspects, on Michelin's crown, Michelin comes out with the new tire that... blows everyone else out of the water
