Retro fit Sirius XM receiver?
When I ordered my 2022 M340iX in the summer of 2021, supply chain issues led to BMW deleting several components from my car, including the Sirius XM receiver.
I know that I can get a Sirius XM account and play it through my iPhone on CarPlay. I think that's a clunky interface. I was wondering if anyone here also had a satellite radio delete and subsequently had the hardware retro-fitted (assuming that's possible)?

Hi. I see there's been ~250 views but no replies. I called the BMW dealer and was informed that there is no way to retrofit the Sirius XM receiver. I wonder if anyone here has a different experience?

If you're lucky the Sirius antennas are there and they just swapped out the RAM for a euro-spec one that doesn't have HD Radio and Sirius tuners. Then you just have to replace that complex and expensive computer module, reprogram the new RAM so it actually works, and reprogram your MGU to activate SiriusXM.
It's not technically impossible but it's really not worth the hassle, just use your phone. If they didn't put the antennas in then it's actually impossible. |

Thanks. I have the shark fin so I imagine I have the antenna. It isn't clear if the RAM is ready to go or not. Nonetheless, I agree with your observation that this is a hassle.
