Looks like it is an outie rather than an innie. Saves headroom but generally sucks as a sunroof. Had an outie on my Giulia and it made a sh!t-ton of noise at anything over 40 mph. Interstate driving with it open was impossible without earplugs.
That is reason one I personally don't want one and second would be the incessant plugging of BMW sunroof drains. Wife drives an Acura, whose drains I have never blown out with compressed air. All out BMW's must have this done at least twice a year or you get a floor full of water.

Out of all the standard features possible for the US cars, this is by far the most annoying. Can't even opt out, you need to pay for the carbon roof or else you're stuck with the sunroof.

BMW in general has so many models that have the sunroof as standard and there is no way to delete it.Why not just give people the choice that don’t want one.It decreases headroom and adds weight. Some people have no need for a sunroof. At least in Canada you can get the slicktop as a standard feature for the G87 but why don’t they also just do that for all of the other BMW models. It’s so stupid.
