The ECU logs "unexpected" events like additional boost or more power than expected. So, if there's a big-ticket item like a blown engine or transmission, seems likely that BMW would use those logs to dispute a warranty claim. |

I think the idea will be that if you want more factory horsepower, you buy the CS or Competition when it arrives. Providing a software tune would cannibalize those sales.
