You don't have to get A BMW extended warranty. My dealership sells Zurich warranties which are good and mirror the factory warranty. Better yet is that they don't differentiate between a 230 and M2, so you can get one for pretty cheap. At least that's what my finance manager told me.

I haven't decided on the maintenance plan yet. I'm likely skipping it, but I think it could be worth it after 7 years and maxed miles. The most expensive item will be brakes and clutch. I've heard the clutch will last forever, but I bet the brakes with drilled rotors are expensive to replace. And I'm not sure how long they will last. The plan could pay for itself on a high milage car.

A full brake job is $1000 per corner of parts, and another hour of labor per corner. Figure $4500 all in if you don't pay dealer prices for parts.

That's easily twice the price of a non-m BMW. I generally pay about half of normal parts and labor, but that can still add up quickly. Definitely considering it as I drive 15k miles a year.
