Climate Control and iDrive8

So I'm really loving everything about this new 2023 G87 M2 except for the climate control lack of buttons. When driving with my GF, she simply wants to adjust the climate, however she has to touch the climate button on the touch screen. I do wish there were physical buttons (the back seats have physical buttons).

What does everyone else use for their climate controls? Sure there is voice control, but I feel as if that's still a thing for showing off and maybe I'm too old school for it??? I tried setting climate control as one of the shortcuts in iDrive 8, but even when the GF or any other passenger is using the pad, I end up hitting my hand against theirs when shifting the 6-speed.

It's just something I'm still getting used to coming from physical climate buttons but just curious on other peoples thoughts.

Garage List
It would also be good at $70k to get ventilated seats.

IMO voice control is the way to go. The awkwardness fades after you do it a few times.

Are you using auto climate control? All you have to do is hit the temp +/- spot on the screen. Not sure how that's different from doing it with a physical button located elsewhere. I've had my iD8 m240i since September of last year and can't remember the last time I pulled up the climate control menu on the screen

Just out of curiosity, the climate menu can only be accessed via touch, and not using the idrive controller? Including adjusting the temperature?

The temp can be adjusted on the screen with one touch per degree adjustment, without having to access the climate menu

I'm asking if it can be done with the controller and not touch.

In the short time I had to drive my car it seemed climate was touch only but I didn't have time to play with it.

I have no idea really, since that would be far more cumbersome than just touching the screen for an immediate adjustment

But that means aircon is on all the time, doesn’t it? Which I’d say is a bit of a waste of energy. Maybe minor but still doesn’t feel right to me.

You can turn the system off.

Yes I hate this crap. When I finish going to the gym I like to lower the windows and let my stink out but the AC starts blasting with the windows down. Is it even possible to disable?

Yep turns on everytime I start the car. My seat warmers don’t even come on automatically. Coming from an Audi this shit is annoying AF.

AC off won't stop the fans from blowing. And when I do actually want cold air I have to dive into the menu for the AC selection. The issue is that I have auto climate OFF and fans set to 0 when I turn off the car but when I turn on the car it sets the fan speed to 1 automatically.

I'm also naturally comfortable around 65 degrees, but I find on some mornings when I remote start the car it will turn on the AC because ambient temperature might be like 68 or 70, when obviously I don't want to turn on the AC in the morning.

Very annoying feature. Don't think bimmercode has anything to address this yet.
