On the G87, if you want a MT lux coupe that can fit 4 people, is plenty fast, at $60-$80k there’s nothing out there.

Not saying BMW was lazy when offering this car, but there isn’t much motivation to design the ultimate driving machine. It’s a pretty niche buyer who still wants the MT coupe formula without jumping up to a $100k+ price point, even then options are limited.

I applaud BMW for still making this car for the enthusiasts but they’re obviously going to utilize the parts bin (screens, tranny, engine, suspension, etc).

The same reason Toyota teamed up w/ BMW & Subaru for their performance offerings.

I appreciate the effort from BMW. We could easily be living in a world without a MT M2, M3, M4 and I’d rather there be something than nothing.

This is very true but just because someone appears to have an opinion doesn't mean they're not trolling either. Case by case basis. If you look back at certain people's posts it's pretty clear what their intentions here are. Usually it doesn't even take looking back as they are instantly recognizable from posts they've made on other parts of the forum. They are constantly abrasive and argumentative with just about everyone, not just people here.

I guess I’m more liberal when it comes to censoring and booting people off of forums just for expressing their opinion in an abrasive way.

If someone can write “the G 87 is f***ing awesome” then I think it’s only fair for someone else to be able to say “it’s a giant piece of sh*t”.

I’m not down with forums being run like a dictatorship.

DB, this guy has been on the same rant for more than a day now. This isn't even the first time he derailed a thread talking about screens and or how nobody buys EV. I respect his pov but theirs a fine line between someone who posts their opinion and someone who conveys the same redundant message for pages without an end.

We get it, he doesn't like the car or EV's which is his prerogative. However, this is beyond annoying with the continuous rebuttals. It's as though this person is a sadist and gets off on posting the same drivel without end.

In addition, this thread makes us all look immature. Imagine a stranger coming here to do research and having to read through all the BS posts. It adds zero value to the discussion.

Ps. Also note, this isn't censoring him, censoring would be asking the Mods to ban him. I simply proposed folks add him to their ignore list. Therefore, he's free to argue with himself if he desires.

Loud and clear. I was banned from the G80/82 section back in the day for expressing my displeasure with the appearance of those cars without warning or any prior infractions anywhere on this site. I didn't go to the lengths that people have gone here, never personally attacked anyone, etc., so I don't agree with forums being run like a dictatorship either. The ban could have been accidental for all I know, but I didn't care enough to ask as I have zero interest in those cars so why attempt to stay there just to rain on someone else's parade? Other people choose to go about it differently than me and that's perfectly fine.

It's just at a point now where it's really easy to sniff out the bullsh*t in someone's posts if you've been here for more than a minute. They might be fooling a few people, or even themselves, but most of us know better. And no, I'm not talking about anyone and everyone who has something negative to say about the G87 as plenty of people who overall don't like the car seem pretty levelheaded.

I actively avoided commenting on many of these threads, and if anything waded back in, attempting to get people to chill out. I see there’s no point in the mob mentality that’s overtaken many of these threads/posts.

I’ll see myself out & slowly disengage from being a part of the forums, which is really unfortunate considering I love the brand and have come around to G8x ownership.

I’m terms of what the car can do and how it will feel versus the f8*… you’d have to be nuts to take an F series car over a G series, and that’s my perspective after having driven both.

The G series is improved in almost every direction, almost every single direction.

We’re all just snapshots in time of where we are at the day and minute we post. I’ll be the first to admit I sometimes look back and think, “what planet was I on when I wrote that shit?”

I don't think the G87 requires exterior mods to look good, but they are going to steal the show once people really start making them their own. Wheels/lowered alone is already such an improvement.

I got an up close look at a silver-ish G83 at a gas station this past Tuesday. It definitely looks pretty wild, unique, aggressive and better in person. I had previously only seen G80's on the road when I was driving, and while I haven't come around on the looks, I always give them a thumbs up because they are still very nice cars and life's too short to be a douche.

There is a post with a car that had 15mm & 18mm spacers with lowering springs and it looks "correct". It is a big car now and needs a proper wheel stance.
