splitting hairs between them. caddy has a better manual. but in time there will be mods for the m2 manual to improve it. both cars are 6 cylinder turbos, there are various aftermarket tunes and mods out there to get to whatever power you want. Mag ride is pretty great, haven't been in the g87 but i'd imagine ride is slightly worse than the g80 due to the shorter wheelbase.

Yes, and we can look at a dyno to put numbers to it (courtesy IND):

The S58 is tuned high, meaning it suffers pretty badly under about 3000 RPM. 1st gear doesn't matter, the gear ratio is so high you are burning rubber regardless. 2nd is likewise still limited more by tire traction, which is why the G87 can do 0-60 in 4.1 seconds.

3rd gear is the first place the torque curve can really be a problem for people. In third, 3000 RPM is roughly 40-45 miles an hour, which IS a common cornering speed on both streets and track.

A lot of people used to lower-tuned engines will take a 35 MPH corner in 3rd and feel unsatisfied. In the G87 you want to be in 2nd below 45 MPH so you can power out of it.

This means you'll downshift into 2nd for entry, then upshift soon as you exit the corner, because the redline is only 20 MPH away.

So yeah, the result is that you'll have more shifting to do at city speeds, and you'll be up in the 5000-6000 RPM range a lot more than in many other cars. But if you do the work you'll have a ton of horsepower on tap.

Whether this is a "bug or a feature" depends on your disposition.

The 3 that convince me to pass are trans fails (several a few days after delivery including 4th year 2023 cars, A pillar leaks with zero fixes and convertible top failures zero fixes.
In a few years, early models are gonna be $50k used and out of warranty po folks are gonna get ruined.
I’d NEVER buy an out of warranty c8 which is a shame cause I love how they drive.
