They just would've bent a lil' brah! Then he could've had 'em refinished by the mobile wheel repair.

More than anything, I think this draws attention to the fact the wheels aren't forged. Most consumers, even M consumers these days, would have no idea what a forged wheel is. They will now. BMW's been on the cheap trajectory for a while now. There are numerous, obviously cheaper things on the G8X chassis versus oder cars that I don't even mention in my complaints/rants, because they are par for the course. That's only getting worse.

If the sub frame is bent than the car is a total loss.

I’ll never keep wheels stock. Making forged oems my winter schit wheels feels wrong. The caveat of course is if bmw is giving us cast but still charging us for forged at $62k. Guess we’ll never know.

$90,000 Porsches come with cast wheels. Lol.

I can't believe anyone would think a wheel breaking apart might be a better situation that it staying in 1 piece
+1...and the trailing arm (or at least bushings) are toast either way. Whether it's obvious now, or in 1k miles

I've done a similar thing in an e34 on euro-spec style 18's (OEM cast). The wheel at least stayed together...

Undoubtedly forged is better than cast but for scenarios where it bends or cracks under harsh driving situations.

Impact like this on either wheel is toast, whether cast or forged.

In this situation cast probably absorbed the blow and prevented more damage :/

Maybe but maybe not.

Had my 2008 Cayman S T-boned just at the driver's side a pilar. Shoved the car against the curb on the right side. Neither right side (or left side for that matter) cast 18" wheel cracked. But the impact was severe enough it broke some cast hardware of the steering/front suspension. Techs who looked over the car told me they had never seen those items broken before.

Sewell discloses everything over $500 that was done at dealership after car arrives. Company policy. Yes someone did something stupid, but the company stays ethical.

I’d have a very difficult time buying any brand car that Sewell sells from any dealership other than Sewell.

I agree, I worked for them for 5 years. Loved it. But when an opportunity to work for Porsche came up I couldn’t say no.

My company is very similar except we don’t do car washes as ours are hand washed and would take too long.

Good point. Safety is the better alternative.

Yes, please. The F87 M2C came standard with forged wheels. Guess BMW saves money moving to cast wheels on the G87.

It’s at Sewell for those that want to see. Based on the plate frame.
