Good 3rd Party Warranty Company ??

Does a good/reputable third party car warranty company actually exist ?

I'm considering buying a used X5 plug in hybrid and would need a company who covers EV/Hybrid batteries, motors, etc.

would you finance or pay cash for the car? some banks and credit unions offer extended warranties... we belong to a different credit union now but when we were members of the local credit union a friend had an extended warranty through them.

got it, well other than the standard ones - Endurance, CarShield, etc - if it were me I'd still look at who I bank with or my auto insurance company. also AAA offers ext warranties too if you're a member but I think the types of coverage/details depend on region.

you can try the guys at Car Edge (joinyaa.com). I've found their pricing to be excellent, esp on the Z4, but no experience with the actual warranty.

Spoke to Car Shield who quoted me $109/month and they claim it covers electric drive unit, battery pack, battery management components, cooling system, and more

Recently posted a similar question in the X7 specific forum as I’m not able to post in the general forum for some reason. We were offered extended warranties from BMW, CNA and Allstate for an X7 we’re picking up. We wanted to understand other’s experience with using any of those warranty company’s. Also asked what sort of prices folks were seeing.

I would suggest CarShield commercials use subtle coded expressions mannerisms to exploit a portion of the population.
A perception that televised ads are somehow regulated by the FTC or FCC and thus exorbitant claims would not be made.

Carshield, IMHO, will go out of their way to deny claims. Paid them for three (3) months late 2021/early 2022 on a e90 335i I had and they denied the water pump claim I made. Spoke to my bank and had those three months of charges reversed for false advertising. Their waiting period is 30 days or 1k miles and they claimed fraud as I made the claim 25 days AFTER the waiting period. Had loss of coolant/WP failure on that 25th day after the waiting period and they flat out denied.

I even sent them a photo of my mileage when I signed up and the mileage when the WP gave up the ghost so I, personally, would avoid them.

Good warranty company

I signed up with aceautoprotect.com a couple of months ago for my old 3 series. Couldn't be happier. granted I did pay a small fee for the oil changes after any repair that was needed on the engine.

try my guy out Marcus 302-469-7573 his email is mmiller@aceautoprotect.com pretty nice guy who gave me a fair deal considering they use OEM parts and use BMW dealers for service. but hey maybe I can even get my referral lol

Cheers!

Take the monthly premium and set it aside as a fund for your car. You won't have to worry about who you take it to for repairs, what you do to your car or anything else that gives them any reason to deny a claim. If you never tap into the funds then you have more to invest in the next car.

A lump sum car purchase with a warranty subscription just seems wrong. Adding a third party warranty onto the purchase price of the car is risky if you finance. You already have secured debt with the vehicle... why aid in creating a gap.

Highland-Autos.com on mbworld sells Fidelity and another warranty. He seems to have developed a positive clientele. He is also active on rennlist. I have no affiliation, just passing along a reference.

Would you happen to have a link to the specific parts covered and excluded under the BMW Powertrain Plus, Gold, vs. Platinum ESCs? I know BMW NA has a brochure and advert that shows the components at high level, but not down to the specifics.

I would avoid CarShield at all costs. If that doesn't turn out to be a big scam, I'll be shocked. Remember US Fidelis? Very similar vibe. Didn't end well.
