Upcoming PCD delivery and a late title

So I'm getting a bit antsy, my delivery date for PCD in South Carolina is 7/17. I haven't yet gone through with the transaction at my local center due to the title not arriving yet.

My sales rep was saying up until last week that they were expecting the title to arrive by the end of June, but unfortunately it hasn't and they are still waiting for it as of today. I contacted the performance center and they don't have any info for me other than stating that they need the sales paperwork on file at least a week before delivery date.

So now I'm feeling very antsy that they will get the title before the end of the week so we can sign everything off and not screw up my plans.

Anyone have any knowledge of how these things usually end up? I'm not sure how worried I should be.

Has your CA performed a PCD previously? If not, there is plethora of information available at his/her disposal. Literally step-by-step information.

Supposedly he has . He is saying that there is nothing he can do on his end until the title shows up. Would you describe that as inaccurate?

There is a four page document fully dedicated to the PCD process. I suggest he find it, read it, and adhere to it.

Re the MSO, manufacturer statement of origin, it is generated by their assigned regional office, and sent directly to them. It is handled no differently than a vehicle delivered to their center. They are not going to receive the MSO until they have reported the VIN as “sold” by them on the date the vehicle is delivered to you at the PC.

Sorry, but your CA is not pulling his weight.

Super helpful, thanks!

What's the turnaround on the MSO being sent to them once they report the VIN as sold? I'm trying to decide how annoying I need to be today to get this done this week.

It is done after your have taken PCD, not prior to. Have him read the document. There is a specific paragraph related to the MSO on page 2.

Ah gotcha, I misread what you were originally saying. So the center shouldn't need anything additional sent to them at this point to do the paperwork. The MSO (what I think of the title) is only ever issued after delivery at PCD.

Your client advisor must submit copies of three documents to the performance center prior to delivery. I cannot explain it any further than I already have. Have your client advisor read the PCD process document and if he cannot comprehend it then you have got much larger problems.

Get it while you can! I highly suspect NA as well as well as a certain individual at the PC will not be pleased that this has been publicly posted as it is an internal document which constitutes as termination within our automotive group.

Edit, no longer applicable.

I will remove shortly, but some CAs aren't doing their jobs

Just called him, he said that they are waiting on the "CO" - Certificate of Origin, which he wasn't sure if it was different than the "MSO" (Manufacturer Statement of Origin).

If it is the same thing then it seems like he's waiting on a document that they shouldn't be. He's talking with his managers now and hopefully getting more info

Update: he said that they are indeed the same thing, so it seems like I might be in a catch22. I asked him to contact the PCD and ask what happens if he doesn't get the MSO in time.

I do wonder if Massachusetts' centers handle things a bit differently, this bit in the doc doesn't explicitly say the MSO will arrive after the purchase date, just that it is the same as any other purchase.

"The MSO is generated in your assigned regional
office and sent directly to your center. It is handled no differently than a vehicle delivered at your retail center."

T_U_D or calbears Do your centers normally not receive the MSO until after the car is "SOLD" for non-PCD transactions as well? My CA is saying they always have them before the cars are sold (usually arriving with the car).

Shit, I’m just catching up on this drama. I was getting nervous for you. Glad this got wrapped up for me in under two minutes!

Let me know when you’re rolling thru town. We can do a time trial down the West Side Highway.
