Hi all! Based out of San Diego, picked up a new to me 2005 325 Ci this past weekend. 78k miles/18 years of wear now require some serious care. New PS4 all seasons were fitted yesterday and Velox Flight 17x8 are coming in tomorrow.

Any guidance on must-do’s for preventative maintenance? Is an engine and/or gearbox swap possible? More specifically, can an N51/N52 be hooked up to a ZF 8-speed or just a pipe dream? TIA

Thanks!

Engine bay is super clean and no indication of leaks on ground under the car as well.

Beautiful car, congrats. Had an M54 powered car (that's what you have, N52 came in the E90).

I haven't watched that video that's posted in this thread but I'll assume it has all of the typical M5X motor things to watch out for. One thing I'd definitely do on yours that I did on mine is the DISA valve. German Auto Solutions has a great kit that's cheap, and it could potentially save your engine (DISA valve pin backs out and gets sucked into the manifold, it does happen more often than you might think). Other than that good luck with the car.
