I'm no audiophile so I will just nod my head and agree. Regardless, I am told it will get analyzed and the final comparison data sent to me by tomorrow afternoon. So let's just say I should post something by Friday to play it safe. Engineering "afternoons" and marketing "afternoons" don't typically align very well.

Truth be told today was kind of a wasted day as we were playing with the binaural audio equipment and experimenting with how to effectively integrate it into future marketing videos in addition to what they use it for on the R&D side. So marketing caused the additional day delay. Our bad. =)
Thanks! How perceptually louder would you say the DINAN exhaust is compared to the stock exhaust with the valves open, if you’ve had the chance to listen to both?

Totally subjective to my abused ear drums but If I had to put a number to it I would say 15-20% louder but the tone change is really the more prevalent difference. Dinan is definitely deeper and deeper (bass) doesn't necessarily translate into "louder" when comparing to higher pitched sounds (treble) in terms of perception to the ear. Part of the reason those high powered Indy car screams are so deafening.

Final dB chart below should give you the jist. As a reminder - generally a 10dB difference is considered twice as loud for the human ear (logarithmic scale).

I was going to try and explain some nuances as it relates to dB and loudness as there is a lot to it but I would fail miserably and likely just cause more confusion so I decided against it. If you want to nerd out on the stuff though, Head Acoustics (manufacturer of the software/equipment we use) has a pretty good video HERE explaining it. Albeit, with more or less consistent sounds (similar to steady state cruise). It is waaaaay in the weeds for most though. Consider yourself warned.

Anyone here have this exhaust and can give some feedback? Was thinking of pulling the trigger on this due to the lower price point but a little hesitant. I had the Dinan exhaust on my X3MC and the drone on a cold startup and idle was honestly brutal and almost unbearable. Second time’s a charm?

Alright, just send the full exhaust my way to test on the G87 and the forum will be overjoyed. You will get millions of dollars and I get an exhaust. Win/Win.

That would entirely depend on your review
