It's amazing how no one at BMW even bothers to fix the format of that web page. It is supposed to be Ready for Transport. Next Line: 2024 M2 coupe. The format has been messed up for weeks.

I've been refreshing "a few" times as I thought my car would go down the assembly line today. But no progress.

And that young lady with the freckles keeps on smiling, always so happy. Is she laughing at us?

There is also a discrepancy between what codes 160 and 165 show in My Garage and what show in BMW's system: Code 160 is "Released to Distribution" and Code 165 is "In Transit" according to my dealer's computer screen but on my end 160 is Final Assembly and 165 is Ready for transport.

Given the weeks that mine sat at 160, I would bet that "Released to Distribution" is correct. And code 165 is probably in transit to the shipping out port. Mine probably sat at the SLP plant storage for several weeks (160 code) and then was loaded on a train or truck and shipped to Veracruz where it sat for another couple of weeks (165 code). In a matter of hours, mine jumped from 165 to 195 but there was a 4 day delay from when it actually got loaded on a ship to when My Garage updated to 195 status!

From what I have seen on this forum, a lot of guys have seen a long delay for My Garage to update to 195 status and my guess is they do some kind of batch upload on all the cars that actually load on a particular ship and this upload is done manually after some review or approval by the port authorities. These ships hold upwards of 4000 cars and not all of them are BMWs so the delay is probably caused by the government (cartels?).

Good to know, I’m also at 165 for 2 weeks now.

Mine was 23 days at 160 and 13 days at 165. Then a 4 day delay to show 195. So, 40 days from end of production to actual shipment.

When were your status changes? What were the dates?

My production date was 8/18 and it was done by 8/20 - so it went to 160 on 8/20 or 8/21.

Bear in mind though that my car is an M240i so there may be some variation - I was only sharing my experience with the issues on the My Garage page compared to the dealer's computer system and the port issues which we all are experiencing from the SLP factory.

It usually takes a few days to a week (for me at least). It looks like we have a similar spec.

I figured it would be moving through today. Should be at 160 or 165 by EOD Friday.

I called my CA today and she couldn't provide any meaningful update other than that my car is awaiting to be assigned to a ship. She still thinks it's coming in from Germany, so I don't know if I'll get any better details lol. I guess that suggests my car is at the port at least?

The delay in My Garage seems to be pretty common. I recall most mentioning that their My Garage updated after their car had already been loaded and in transit to the destination port. I'm currently at 15 days since entering 165. I expect an update on October 11, which would be about 22 days since entering 165. This would track with being loaded on Morning Chorus on 10/5 and shipping out and then finally updating My Garage. Fingers crossed we're all on the ship!

The amount of cluelessness still amazes me. I remember telling my CA last year when they first announced it that the new M2 would be built in Mexico. I guess he didn't didn't believe me so he then called up one of his coworkers to confirm while I was sitting right there. I'm like wow...why would I tell you something that wasn't true?

So hopefully by 10/9-10/10 you should know if you made the ship.

I know! I went to three different dealerships before I ordered and each one them said the M2 is made in Germany. I tried informing them but they all disagreed. I guess most M models are probably made in Germany, so I can't fault them for not knowing, but it does show how much they really care about their brand.

Interestingly this was right around the time that they were debuting the M2 at different events and it was mentioned by BMW CCA that it was going to be at the M 50th Anniversary event at the PDC in South Carolina. One of the guys at the dealership came by while I was talking to my CA and I mentioned that I was going to the event that weekend to see it and his response was "yeah I was just there and I didn't see there so I doubt it'll be there". I'm like "oh ok" and proceed to arrive at the event that weekend and walk right up to it. I wasn't surprised at all that it was there. Some people just think they know it all and that the customer is always wrong.

Goes quick after that! Perhaps we’ll be on the same ship. You may even get multiple updates in the same day.

Until it sits at the dreaded "Ready For Transport" for who knows how long... (I'm here now, got this yesterday and not sure when I can expect real movement)

Moved to "Production Begins" today with a VIN number as well. I presume I'm build week 40?

How many boats are on build weeks 38-42? One or multiple?

I was under the impression that the Production Date was when it was supposed to be complete. But for me it was the date it finally started.

I guess I will have the Friday afternoon car 😎I’ll take it. Let’s go San Luis Potosí.

Use the browser trick to find your actual production date. I posted instructions a couple of pages back.
