I found a 2007 with 49K miles. Been sitting around for years. Had a full inspection on it and he said it's perfect. Might have to change the fluids. I am taking the chance. You never hear the awesome stories of the S85. Only the regurgitated horror stories of the bearings and vanos. Not many will experience the drive of a V10. I will keep everyone posted.

Congrats! Post up pictures when you get around to it. Absolutely nothing sounds like a V10.

2007 with only 49K miles! Completely stock. I love that it's stock and unmodded. A better chance it wasn't beaten on the whole time. The inspection came was almost perfect. No issues but a dirty cabin filter. I am going to change out the fluids and spark plugs first. Any advice on what to replace or change is greatly appreciated.

That's about right. Older M cars present an opportunity but at a price: persistent problems are well documented and it's only a question of what's price of affection towards this particular vehicle.

There is no perfect answer sadly. It's your choice and your budget. Spending money to maintain this vehicle is almost a certainty.

I was in the same predicament some time ago. My all time favorite vehicle is F06 M6 San Marino Blue / Red Interior. Picture of a similar vehicle attached with all rights acknowledged.

Did not buy it while thanking myself with deep intermixed regrets.

if you dont have serious money to blow and aren't buying this as a toy, run far away. the maintence will eat you alive. like if you can't afford a clean one which is 30k or a fucked one and 15k of maintence you need to forget about it. even then it will be relivetly unreliable

If it was built prior to Jan 2007, then if it hasn't been done already, swap out the oil pan to the later version with 2 drain plugs. Else every oil change is leaving more than 2 quarts of dirty oil in the pan. I pointed this out above along with a link to the three revision levels of S85 production. If the oil pan needs to come down, then it makes sense to also do BE rod bearings and ARP bolts at the same time along with taking a look at the oil pump and I think the high pressure vanos hose.

Op great car. You will spend some money on it to make it perfect. Congrats on great car that will not depreciate in value like new ones will This is all about point of view however I will say this. Most of those claiming like it’s going to be a disasterious ownership, will rather take on another $80k-$100k debt than spend $3K at the shop to get the car repaired. Ask me how I know. Good luck. Seems like a nice example 👍

First I’d get through it to check for apparent things. Leaks of any I would replace all the fluids. The most important. Send oil sample to blackstone. If comes back good nothing to worry about. Warm it properly before you give it the beans and just enjoy it 👍

Thanks guys. I forgot to tell you guys I got pulled over by a cop on the way back to Chicago. I didn't get a ticket. I slowed down in time, but he stopped me for no plates. He was cool. Came back and he couldn't believe it was a 2007. He loved the car. It's hard to believe it's that old and still looks goods.
