Just picked up my MY24 G87 and the radiator is more silver colored and pushed forward. The genius said because this is an updated spec that is more durable to road debris after engineering updated some things. I did compare it to a MY23 and the radiator is more set back and black so this seems to be an improvement, we hope. (Although it’s still WIDE open)
UPDATE…..This is the transmission cooler and some cars got silver or black depending on production date. The genius clearly wasn’t a “genius” after all.

I thought this was the difference between the manuals and autos? The manuals have a plastic black mesh in front of the radiator where the autos have a transmission cooler in front that is unprotected (like in your pictures.) Or at least thats what I thought.

This picture makes zero sense to me unless it’s an automatic and we are seeing the transmission cooing rad that does not usually have the plastic guard and the car doesn’t have the radar for the adaptive cruise control… otherwise I’m super confused

Is your car automatic or manual? I call BS on the explanation from the CA. Of course it's "better" the way it is...

It’s an auto, no adaptive cruise

I still call BS on the "newer design for better protection".
Shop foreman said nothing is missing and that’s how they are now after an update. Maybe some more info will come out later.

This sounds accurate it’s certainly not missing anything.

I think this is the auto transmission cooler because if you look closely in this pic you can see the radiator behind it.

There should be a NSFW warning label. Seeing naked exposed parts like that w/o disassembly make me nervous.

I think that's the explanation.

Just an update everyone I looked at my friends MY24 and it’s exactly the same except his is black and mine is silver (which kinda sucks), I also looked at an M4 auto and it’s the same silver one as well so you were all right it’s the transmission cooler for autos.

I have a 24 auto and the trans oil cooler is black too. No guard. I am so torned between the guard options available. The Zunsport sits in front of the center pillars which I certainly dont like (I was hoping this was my choice), the one with the Zip ties, well, zip ties, there is another one that uses the existing pin holes but I dont think they offer guards for the side coolers. Any other leads?

Lucky lol. I saw an M4 today and it’s silver too. Luck of the draw I guess. Mine is alpine white, so it kinda blends.

Another silver on a G87. Looks like it’s indeed random.
