Hard disagree here, I like that touch.

I don't mind the door panels. Functionally, they lighting flashes when the door is open to make it more visible to approaching traffic.

2018 M2  [9.27]
Great seats and headroom

Not as organic and natural as F87

But G87 is more comfortable inside

Screen did take some time to get used to but now I like how it gives sharp contrast between manual gear knob old-school cool and new(?)school tech? haha.

Also found out that ambient lighting with M colors are pretty nice, it is bit gimmicky but it looks cool and fits the car's attitude very well. Here are some nighttime shots that I got on the day of driving back!!

Initially,I wasn't thrilled with the drivers instrument screen in the G87, in fact preferred the instrument binnacle in my 2022 Porsche Macan S. Once I sat in the G87 I had a change of mind and quite liked the large screen and the information available within it.

Fast forward, I am now in the second week of my Brooklyn grey 6MT M2 ownership journey and must admit that I am a massive fan of the car (including the drivers screen). On another note, the standard sport seats in my M2 are so much more comfortable and supportive than the 14 way chairs in my Macan S.

Well done BMW for making a reasonably priced drivers car (Porsche take note).

Cheers

I would agree with you there. Having a 2021 Macan S, the G87 is superior in user interface and seating comfort by quite a margin.

The overall Macan screen navigation and capabilties are slow and inconsistent. The perforated leather on the Macan sports seats looks nice and is high quality, but feels too much like a sofa and isn't very supportive.

I was pleasantly surprised how supportive yet comfortable the sport seats are.

The M highlight interior looks great imo. Carbon trim as well.

I like the drive screen and info screen. Slick and intuitive. Annoying with the climate controls though tbh but still getting used to it.

Found it odd the obstructed view from the mirror out of the rear window. But also an easy fix by just putting down the headrests on the rear seats.

I do find a weird blind spot when turning left with the driver side mirror and A pillar but that may be more my seat position who knows.

Haven’t you seen those movies where a spaceship has been abandoned several hundred years and they are able to power it up and all the screens come to life? It’ll be like that.

I can see a specialist business providing BMW compatible systems for cars that are worth saving in the future. There are a number of companies supporting early 80s first gen digital systems or replacement for them such as this: https://www.britishsportscarservices...otorsport-dash, together with track orientated general purpose digital dashes such as this: https://id4motion.shop/products/univ...igital-cluster

With CAN orientated systems, it becomes more of a software than hardware problem to substitute in a replacement system.

This ^^^^

Specially for me coming from a Camaro SS 1LE. It's like someone let you out of a coffin into sunshine

I positively love everything about the interior. Except that they removed the rear seat climate controls and USBCs in the 2024 G87s.

Seats in our pair of 2019 M240i are more comfortable. I am 6’1”, 165 lbs.

Carbon fiber dash and instrumentation/display are awesome. YMMV

I personally love the interior. Coming from a mk7.5 Golf R with a digital display it’s still a huge step up. I’ve also been driving a 2016 Mercedes E400 and the quality seems a level above with the large screens and nicely bolstered seats. I will say the window buttons and seat adjustments feel a cut below, but it’s all good. I wish the door storage was dapped like the Golf though.

I originally thought the M-colored door lights and lit M2 seat lights were a little tacky, but now I’m finding them really charming. Like they wake up the kid in me, especially when the door lights throb. It’s so goofy that I wish I went with the m-colored seats and really laid into the whole m-color design.

My favorite view is seeing the red and blue tac in sport mode cascaded against the Brooklyn grey hood. It just looks so cool! Is there anyway to keep the sport tac on or do I have to select it every time I start her up?

300 miles

Gripes:
Cup holders are awful for a large coffee
I like the door ones for 24oz pop bottles

Gauges are waaaaaaaaay too much but awesome. Is there a way to keep the sport gouges as the default or program M1orM2?

Seat warmers are just warm not hot

1-2 shift is difficult

Seatbelts are way back and hard to reach for

No rear usb power. I'd rather run a cord from the back to not clutter the shifter area

Dimming rearview mirror is still too bright

Door card lighting is a lil immature imo. I'd rather have more ambient lighting. Love the ambient lighting & the M2 lights up

Shifter (6mt) should have a glow

Omg... the abyss that is something falling between the seat. I dropped my wheel lock key and I needed to get a screwdriver to flick it forward. Bought some seat gap fillers
