Black emblem swap?

Anybody swap out your rear model number emblem for the OEM black ones? I got the black ones and they come on a little template-looking thing, but I don't see how it actually lines up with anything on the car for fitment. I'm thinking of doing the tried and true method of just using painter's tape to mark the edges of the current one before I remove it and then use the tape line up the new one, but thought I'd check first in case there's a better way to do it.

Yeap, exactly. Mine did not lined up but just followed the tape. Videos are great too.
