Exclamation g87 m2 wait times

Hi guys, completely new here! Im located in Texas near Houston, Austin, Corpus area. I want to order a new m2 and just want to have a ball park on wait times here in the southern central coast states. Anyone here ordered one and how smooth the process went?

Ive see some people say 3-4 months while some said 6 months. I am planing on ordering very basic with just carbon trim on the inside and regular seats.

Thanks!

Seems to be improving, but in general it depends on the dealership allocation rate. If they are getting multiple allocations per month then should be ok. If they are getting those sparingly it could be delayed. From order received to deliver should be 3-4 months, with the allocation wait time tacked on.

All that said, the flow is opening up recently so if you're not too specific you might actually find one on a lot.

I feel like the biggest wait time is shipping now which for you shouldn’t be too bad(assuming you’re a rail delivery). The east coast thread has quite a few members which have been waiting in port for 3+ weeks now just waiting for a boat. My allocation was for w38 or 39 I forget and the build was right on schedule but the port has been annoying since the car is ready but just sitting there,
Not much we can do about that though.

A sports car is a personal thing, I can't imagine walking onto a lot and just finding one that is setup the way I want. Nor can I imagine buying one that is "meh, close enough." Not for this kind of money.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Sedan = 4 doors.. I guess you could try and call an M2 as a "family" coupe but the back seat space is about useless.

Or let's be real pretentious and start using words like saloon or cabriolet...

depends on what you are looking for. If you are ready now, i am willing to bet you can find an abandoned order or a unit in stock on the ground. Winter is coming and interest rates are hurting folks. The M2 has a short list of factory options, so its not hard to find identical builds. But if you want to have a ton of port installed options then it could be worth the wait.

The difference between a sedan and a coupe is the roofline. A coupe has a sloping roofline and a sedan has a flat roofline. Coupes more commonly have two doors and sedans more commonly have four doors so most people think of them based on the number of doors.

Sure, no one is gonna buy a "2 door station wagon", but a shooting brake sounds exotic.

Interesting discussion about sedan vs coupe that has age to it. Maybe the lack of a sloping rood is why they called the 2002 a sports sedan.

Texas cars go by ship to Galveston. Order/production/delivery spreadsheet here: https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...84&postcount=1

Placed the order on June 15th (Chicago area) and just received allocation (October 25th) . Its still a bit from the build start but making progress. Looks like in my case it will be between 4 and 7 months

Probably 4 months at the outside. One end of July allocation was delivered in 8 1/2 weeks to NYC.
