HIFI vs. HK Amplifier (RAM Booster)

Anyone know if the HK amp and the HIFI amp are interchangeable? I can get a cheap used take off HK amp if it's a direct swap to go from the 205w hifi amp to the 464w HK Top Hifi amplifier. If not Bavsound is what I'll probably do instead.

I ended up doing the bimmertech amp. Definitely recommend the upgrade if you want to upgrade the hifi system. Even if the HK amp did fit, the EQ would be way off and you'd be missing channels on the speakers.

Could you provide more information as to what the bimmertech amp is ?

So did you find out that the HK amp wasn't a direct plug and play swap to the base stereo ?

It's essentially an Audiotech Fischer UP 8DSP amp with a sticker on it and sold by the company BimmerTech and custom mount bracket/harness that piggy backs on the factory RAM module. It has a bit more power than the stock amp and a 24 band EQ, time alignment, fully adjustable crossovers for all channels. It offers more power than stock amp and ability to tune the system indefinitely to your liking, plus integration of an aftermarket subwoofer is way easier.

Now for the Bimmertech Alpha One speakers, I'd probably choose different next time as the aluminum domes and cones are piercingly clear in some music and difficult to tune around versus poly or woven cones and silk domes

Combined with a measurement microphone like a mini DSP U-MIK1 you can get nearly perfect response on a stock hifi system
