I've been thinking about my winter setup since I ordered this car back in October of 2022. I live in Oregon and drive 60 miles round trip. I sold my 4x4 to buy this car, so I have committed to driving through the winter. The winter is very mild though, so my info will not pertain to most of the country.
I started out with the hopes that I could just drive slowly through the winter and use up my OE summer tires. I have the Michelins, and they have been excellent so far. My first sub-30 degree day, however, quashed those thoughts. The summer tires are so hard and stiff in the cold. Even on dry roads I could feel the traction control engage on the modest of take offs. So I installed the Continental all seasons. It rarely snows here, and even the coldest days often warm up to around 45 or 50 degrees. I chose not to do full winters. My first couple days have been great. I'm not used to driving high performance vehicles like this, so I don't have much experience experimenting with different tires. I'm having a little trouble expressing exactly what I'm feeling, so forgive me if I'm not using the most precise language. The first thing I noticed was that these tires seem a little softer. It's like I can feel the car moving around a little bit on these tires. It doesn't feel bad, so I'm not counting this as a negative. It just feels different. But, I feel very planted and stable. You can tell right away that there is more traction on these colder days that dip below 50 degrees. It still feels good down to 36 degrees. So far that's the coldest day I've had. I plan on keeping these tires on my OEM wheels for winter driving. Eventually I will have a set of light weight wheels for my summer tires but I have time to think about that. |

I had a MK7 Golf R that I went from Bridgestone summer tires to the previous version of the Continental, the DWS06. They were great in snow especially with the AWD but they felt squishy on dry pavement, exactly how you described you can kind of feel the tire moving around. That’s why I passed up on them and bought something else for the M2

Also installed these on my G87. Same size as OEM. Only done a few miles of spirited driving. The car definitely feels more comfortable and rides nicer than with the Pilot 4S, but I feel less confident throwing it hard into corners - it’s also A LOT colder outside (20-40F) now. I’m probably keeping them on the car until June-ish, so they should get a good amount of testing around then. Hopefully they won't see a ton of snow. Cosmetically, they actually look a lot nicer than I expected!

For the M2 I put Michelin Pilot AS4. I haven't used them in the snow and I don't plan to drive the M2 once they start salting the roads here. In the dry I noticed they are not as grippy as the OEM PS4 star tires. You lose grip but they feel the same in their overall driving characteristics if that makes sense? The loss of grip is only noticed when pushing pretty hard with DSC turned down. I don't notice it in every day driving.
