Go to Discount Tire, and for $300 they will give you a tire warranty for the tires. They will of course inspect your current tires, and they also do free repairs on ANY tires, fyi. BMW wheel and tire, is normally around $2000 or so and unless you have repeatedly destroyed wheels in the past, i dont think you will get your money out of it.
Also you have roadside assistance with your new car, so you are covered for a few years to get towed to a dealer or tire shop (discount tire). |

In my experience so far it's not hard to source the OEM star tires, either type. As long as you stay OEM size.
I've had AAA forever because it has so many other benefits. For example, I can use it if I'm a passenger in someone else's car. |

I got suckered into getting 8 year wheel and tires coverage for $2900. It covers cosmetic fixes as well so curb rashes are covered too. And main reason I opted in was it also covers oem winter wheels and tires.
I'm in New England and pot holes situation is quite bad. Any crack or warped wheel could happen quick. |

Was some time before I used this. Actually forgot about it. But when I took a car in with a leak -- that couldn't be repaired -- the SA reminded me of it. But this coverage became more expensive. And at some point I decided to no longer get it. More recently with my M2 I didn't opt for any tire (or wheel) coverage. I have premium AAA membership. At several thouand miles the left rear tire developed a leak. Fortunately this was repairable. IIRC cost approx. $62. Then some time later the right rear tire developed a leak. And double good fortune it was repairable, too. (Had been driving the car to look at new houses. I hate driving in construction zones but I avoided what looked to be the worst areas. But still managed to pick up something in both rear tires and I assume while driving in the construction zones.) Been my habit for some time now to get tires at the dealer. Dealer tech knows how to lift the car, and is careful with the wheels. My local Porsche dealer parts department was selling me tires for my Porsche cars at Tirerack (discount) prices. When my Hellcat got a driver's side rear tire puncture I bought new tires at the local (San Leandro CA) Dodge dealer. When the M2 needs tires I'll get them from the local BMW dealer. The rear tires are expensive. When I had the car in for its first tire leak I asked for a quote for tires. For one rear tire I was quoted $582/tire mounted/balanced/installed. |

In the discussion on wheels. I have broken a cast wheel before (Alfa) but was only a $600 wheel 5 years ago. It’s not that hard to break a cast 19 or 20 inch wheel in pot-hole land. But this is like any other insurance - was a good buy if you used it and a waste of money if you didn’t.

And nobody gets suckered into paying $2,900 for anything. Simply say no thank you and move along. I'd definitely cancel that policy.

![]() Then when I said I was just going to take my wheel, mangled tire and destroyed tpms, he tried to charge me for the labor for dismounting the tire. To which I thanked him for his time and walked out.
