Hey guys,
I have a G87 on order (potentially on a boat right now) and I’ve been so excited for it that I’ve already began looking into parts to buy for it once I take delivery. This is going to be the first car that I don’t like the OEM wheels and want to get aftermarket wheels for. I’ve been looking at three brands as of now: BBS, HRE, and Volk. I’m wondering since the stock wheels are cast, would a flow-formed option from BBS or HRE be considered an “upgrade” from the stock wheels and are they worth the money, or should I spend that extra 2-3k on a set of real forged wheels? For BBS, I like a lot of the wheel styles, like the CI-R, FI-R, and LM, while for Volk, I only really have the TE37 in mind. I’m not too sure about HRE but I liked the FF01. I’ve also heard about a lot of people going with Apex VSR-5S but I haven’t done too much research about Apex so I’m not sure how the quality is. Any help is appreciated! I don’t know anything about wheels so please be nice 😭

In my opinion, the only reason to spend the extra money on forged wheels is if you are tracking your car. If you do track it then Apex should be at the top of your list. Also, check out VT Forged; they look really cool.
If you are not going to take your car to the track then pick whatever wheel you thinks looks the best (forged, flow formed, or cast).

Full forged, period...and no, tracking the car is not the only reason to get full forged. If it were a full tracking car, I would go with magnesium or carbon fiber (godly expensive and not super strong but light as a feather).
To the OP...first, you have to come up with your price range (and will you be sticking with stock size to use oem tires or changing sizes to need to order a bew set of tires). Once you have a price established, you can focus on brand and style/pattern. |

I'm currently looking at these options myself. I'm stunned by the prices of the fully forged wheels though. BBS, HRE, fully forged are just out of the question for me personally. |

Quality is superb as far as I can tell. Check out their website, each wheel is stamped and has a verification sticker on it as well. I really like the attention to detail on the wheels when I opened the box. They are also extremely light, taking them out of the box was a breeze and even after mounting tires, they were super easy to mount and dismount off of the car because they were light as hell. They also look great so there's that. Again, you don't have to spend $10K on a set of quality wheels.

I bought a few sets from them for my S550. LMR is just a mile away from my work so it was super convenient as well.

Whatever they were... I think I paid maybe $800 for ALL 4 WHEELS. No joke. The PP1 Mustang just felt more light on it's feet. Slightly more nimble. Maybe it was partially a placebo effect idk. The LMR wheels were noticeably lighter though. |

Doing the same thing with the G87 too after xmas. Wider, much lighter, and proper offsets. It's both a performance and aesthetic mod. And honesly the design of the oem wheels is a PITA to clean so that's just a bonus when swapping out if going with a simpler design. OP, Vossen if you have the coin, Apex, VT Forged, Edelweiss, Vorsteiner all options to check out. |

What are the proper offsets for wheels so we can ditch the spacers and who makes wheels in those fitments? Stock wheels with 15-18 mm spacers end up being like a +5 to +2 offset.

Wheels and a good stance really changes the car. My car too is on a boat after a 13 month wait lol i hope to take delivery before xmas.
I have a huge parts list already delivered so i feel your pain. I went with Apex wheels 19x10 fronts 20x11 in the rear APEX seem to be the wheel everyone is using. They are really light and look FANTASTIC. (thats why i also have them on the way smh) VT-Forged are also amazing looking (just the tiny holes and brake dust idk) Titan-7 are also great they have 2 sets that i think look great a 6 spoke and a split 5. If it were ME and wheels were no important yet i would just roll spacers until you find the right wheel for your build. I will say a 6 spoke JDM style wheel would look so so good on these cars. just my 2 cents |

Each manufacturer (assuming reputable) will have the proper offsets for each sized rims for the G87. |

Many out there offer these or pretty close to these. One example (my personal choice as well) is the SLA from VT Forged. Light weight, great looking and reasonably priced. AndyVTForged. Apex VS-5RS, Edelweiss LT3, Vorsteiner V-FF 103, Richland Forged GT3R all offer varying looks and fitments that can get you close to these. BBS and Vossen as well though don't recall which models off hand. |

What's up! I made the swap over 0 regrets from the s550 so have been pretty quiet over there. Power delivery on the G87 is much more refined. The interior is night and day better than the Mustang even in their premium spec. The shorter wheel base makes it alot more fun to throw around. I do miss the sound of the v8 with full lth but throwing just an equal length mid on the M2 wakes her up alot.

That is my biggest concern. I have had 2 E46 M3s and then 2 E92 M3s and I feel I am going to miss the V8. I have been on Bimmerpost since 2004...just new to this forum. I believe we will start to see discounts on these by summer. If you remember the threads "the interior is just as nice as a BMW!!" I am like you obviously never sat in one.
