No experience with my BMWs but with my Porsche Boxster I googled how to remove the front bumper cover. Got several hits. Thought I was set. But when I went to remove mine the steps/process was not identical. But I was able to get the thing off. Had to remove about a zillion fasteners. It is very important you note each fastener location and what specific fastener goes in the hole. Also note how the other plastic panels under the car behind the bumper cover fit so when you install the bumper cover you can duplicate this. Porsche techs told me they could always tell when an owner (or non Porsche mechanic) had been at the bumper. Fasteners were in the wrong place, or not present at all, and the panels were fitted wrong. It is important the panels be right as this helps ensure air flow through the bumper cover and under car are as the factory intended. Oh an added complication is with your car (I know it is the case with my 2 BMWs) both front and rear bumper covers have sensors in them. So to remove the covers there will likely be wiring connections that have to be separated. Use extreme care. And avoid changing the sensor fits in the bumper cover. |
