2024 M240i High performance worth it?
Hi, I'm looking to purchase m240i soon. And was wondering is the cooling and high performance tire package is worth it? I know with this package it unlocks speeds up to 155mph, normally 135 mph. I read you cant change it after you place your order.
I don't know if I'm going track the car, but mainly going use this car as a switch up from my SUV. As a weekend car. Spec out M240i in Thundernight comes out to $62,470 + tax and etc. Is there any room for negotiating? Looks like lead time is about 2 months once you place your order. Thanks! |

Both of those speeds are jail level unless you're on the autobahn. Even top tracks my me, you're not hitting over 135mph.
The benefit is from the additional oil cooler, better brakes, and wider wheels / tires. If you autocross or track at all, it's well worth it imo. I also think those wheels look better. |

The first part isn't true at all. The wheels alone (I think) are worth most of the cost of the package. Plus run flats are terrible.

it's better to have it and not need it rather than not have it and want/need it later down the line IMO. plus, it's only like $2.5k (?) on a 60k car. I would do it for the brakes alone.

IMHO, the package is worthwhile whether you intend to track or not, like others said, the tires/wheels made the bulk of price difference and run-flats truly sucks. Having said that, note that the cooler is fully exposed underneath, it doesn't even have a flimsy plastic cover like the G87 so you may want to spend a few more bills in protection.

You can get the 155MPH top speed without the ZTK pack as well as no run flats. Just need to option the 791M with performance non-run flat tires. This debate has gone on since this car was made available. Anyone with it will tell you have to have it and vice versa. If money is no object throw it on, but listen what people have to say about the exposed extra cooler as that could cause you some issues.

It's pretty simple really, those of us who didn't get the ZTK package don't really think it's necessary. And those of us that have the ZTK package and all the other upgrades think it's worth it.
I went with the basically base model level of the XDrive, and I love it.. like others have said if you plan to take your car to the track all the time, it might be worth it for you. |

Where does it stop. In the UK it’s £300 for ZTK on top of the wheels & tyres which are around £1300 - and a bargain. I’m aware in the US, M240i to M2 prices are closer but you still need to spec, then run the cars and M cars are expensive in that regard - even more so depending where you need to insure it! They are also very different to drive. |

IF you go with the ZTK package, just be aware that the oil cooler is placed in a vulnerable spot. You'll likely want to buy some sort of guard.
Here's a link to an M2 thread that sheds some light on the issue. https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2069318 |

The G87 has a few others like Misho and a cheap Zunspot. Overall seems like a serious design flag to be honest. There's random rocks everywhere in the road and the cooler is fragile af. |

like others have mentioned, you can eliminate the speed nerf by ordering the car with non-run flats. you should be ordering them with non-run flats anyways!
i opted not to get the ztk package because im never going to track my car. the wheels look phenomenal but theyd only be on my car half the year anyways. in addition, i do like my 797 rims a lot. if i didnt like any of the other options, i probably would have sprung for the ztk for the rims alone. do i ever regret not getting the ztk? nope. would i have regretted getting the ztk if i did get it? probably not. haha. sorry, im no help. |

If you do get it, make sure you purchase a turner motorsports skid plate for the protection of the exposed oil cooler underneath.

The speed limit increase has been discussed probably before some of you were around. https://g87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1938240&page=2
You basically needed summer performance tires run flat or not. All seasons gave you the lower speed limit. In that thread a guy lists the different wheel options that give you a speed limit increase on your build sheet it will be listed as well. |
