Belkin Cup Holder mount. Used this also in the M235 for eight years.

I agree with others that there is no reason to have the phone out at all.
We all know the wireless charger + Android-Auto or CarPlay is basically a phone over-heater and SLOWLY charges. I put my phone in the center console and charge it through USB-C every time I drive. I even bought these 90-degree magnetic connectors so it makes it more convenient and less chance of the wire bending the phones charge port. Less than $20 on Amazon.

Mine gets put in the gap in the passenger seat:

Whenever I wear sweatpants or shorts everything in my pockets comes flying out in this car. I guess it's the angle of the seating position. Because of this my phone and wallet end up in that spot.

I don't know if it's the pants I wear or something else, but my phone falls out of my pocket almost 100% of the time.

So that's a small factor in finding a spot for it.

But I agree, shouldn't be on the phone, etc...not texting and driving, don't worry.

But as someone mentioned, carplay could be a difference maker compared to what I'm used to!

In the old days before Android Auto and CarPlay, I used to hate the way mounting my phone on the dashboard made my car look ugly. I also hated the wires, the way my phone blocked the vents, and so on. But now, in the age of wireless charging and carplay, I'm so glad I don't have to deal with all that hassle anymore. I usually just keep my phone in my pocket, but if I need to charge it, I can just use the wireless charging tray.

I never liked the mounts that existed for the vents or the cupholders, or even the windshields, etc. either.

I'll wait to get the car before deciding if anything is needed, since I will have the CarPlay/wireless charging tray combo.

The Rennline magnetic mount is top notch for all BMW's. End of story. Next question please...
