I swore I would never…but I did

I swore I would never buy an EV, but hubby has been really wanting one so I entertained the notion. It did have to be German though, so for me, either the Audi etron GT or Porsche Taycan.

Long story short, Porsche won, hands down. So on Saturday I traded my 23 840i coupe for the Taycan.

Couldn’t be happier with the decision, what an amazing car! Not like an EV at all…it’s all Porsche and all the great driving dynamics that goes with that distinction. If you’re interested, I highly suggest YT video reviews.

It’s been freezing and windy here since I got it Saturday so only have the dealer pics so far.

Congrats. Love the color. Porsche did a great job with the aesthetics overall. I see them around from time to time.

I drove a Taycan Turbo S and was very impressed but no doubt it still felt like an EV. I’ll be interested when they turbo/S hit the $60k range.

I give you 6-12 months until you're on to the next car and tired of the EV life.

The Taycan's do sound pretty sweet when going full tilt.

Congrats.
Love the looks, if not for the whole electric thing I would have it in my garage.

Let me add one other thing. Buying a new ride especially one this nice is not something I would do where I live this time of the year. I hope you're not in the snow belt. My M4CS is snug in the garage and will not be driven till late spring.

Which model? Hopefully, the fast one lol. Taycan is the only EV I'd look at, but definitely the top model for me. Those wheels have to go IMO

The Tacan base is plenty fast enough as a DD as is documented in YT reviews and it feels faster than the 5.1 reported by Porsche. Also, it handles better than other variants. Most reviewers feel the base is the best option. And I don’t feel I’m simply justifying my choice…not that I need to. To each their own.

And it may ‘sound’ like an EV, although mine has Sport sound which is awesome, but it’s pure Porsche from a dynamics perspective, sports car first, EV second. I’d own this car as an ICE.

I will keep it through the full lease or at least very close to it. The 240 plug charging at home is super convenient and done daily after commuting will only take several hours. Also much cheaper than Premium was for my 840.

I’m in Texas and although really cold at times, doesn’t last more than a few days and vehicle will not be used for long trips.

And I love the Turbo Aero wheels…what I would have ordered. Also they’re 20s so even with chassis in Sport Plus, ride is sublime.

The Taycan being an EV is really not the point of the vehicle, it’s simply one of its attributes.
