Use the pressures listed on the door jamb. The owner's manual matches the door jamb for normal driving (under 100 mph). If you're going to be driving for an extended time over 100 mph, you would follow the recommended pressures where indicated in the manual.

I would like to read more about that outside temperatures, how they work with it.
This " pigheaded Dutch selfdeclared tyrepressure specialist" adds another pressure advice, but I will explain what I use, so you mayby understand the different advices. To laws of nature, wich always rule above ideas of tire- and car-makers, needed cold pressure is to give the tire a deflection, so heatproduction at the speed used, that wont overheat the tire-material at any spot. Other things are also important, but this is main goal. I can make a cold-pressure/axleloadcapacity list, for your tires, with build in maximum reserve, at wich comfort and gripp is still acceptable. Then you " ONLY" have to determine the axleloads in your use 99% acurate, the most tricky part in it all, and your responcibility. For that I give 90% of the calculated axleload with my determined extra tight formula, for max speed 160 kmph/99mph, wich then is max speed to use. The carmakers give recomended for GAWR's with no reserve, and for max technical carspeed. Or yust give extreme high on the plate for energy saving and liability reasons. Then the cold pressure ( when temp in and outside the tire are the same) should be calculated back to an index-temperature, before comparing it to determined needed pressure. Is my conclusion and opinion, and will be proven right in about 20 years. Generally is written to fill cold pressure at any ambiënt temperature, so example 35 psi determined needed, fill it cold at 30 degr F and 110 degr F, and I dont agree with that. To make you that list, I need next from tires, can be read from sidewall. 1. Maximum load or loadindex 2.. Kind of tire to determine the reference-pressure Standard load AT 36 psi XL / reinforced /extraload AT 42 psi. C-Load LT AT 50 or 55 psi and so on. Better would be for LT if you find AT xx psi on sidewall 3. Speedcode, less important, shall be above Q. Then try to find of car next. GAWR's and GVWR ( Gross Axle/Vehicle Weight Rating) or whatever its called in your country Empty weight and way you load it with also persons, so we can dangerously estimate the axleloads for that. Weighing per axle gives that 99% acurate, in the RV sceene they often do it, but there one weighing can do for years, because pretty constant weights and division. Also give max speed you want to use, and wont go over for even a minute. Also give if you want list in psi or bar/kPa, kg or lbs. Last edited by jadatis; 01-28-2024 at 03:16 AM.. |
