Wireless charging with magsafe case
Hi,
I just bought a new iphone 15. I was thinking about buying a magsafe cover for my iphone to charge my phone faster wirelessly. Is the wireless charging of the BMW IX3 QI or magsafe? So does it make sense to buy a magsafe case to charge wireless in my BMX IX3? Also I heard wireless charging with bmw destroys the apple pay chip, is there any news about this? Thanks in advance! highteky |

I use an iPhone 15 Promax with a Mag safe cover in my iX3, and I have no issues.
In fact, the issue you are referring to was very short lived and actually fixed very quickly with iOS 17.1.1 as per this link on the verge. https://www.theverge.com/2023/11/7/2...ging-iphone-15 |

I'm currently on iOS 17.3.1. I probably had whatever version came before iOS 17.1.1. And I probably charged in car with it - I rarely use my key these days. My phone is still working fine with Apple Pay.

Is the phone charging at 15 watts or 7,5 watts when you charge it wirelessly in your bmw ix3? (with the magsafe case) Also does it connect magnetically? Meaning that it's auto positioning it in the right spot like an iphone magsafe charger. Thanks in advance! |

There is no magnet to hold it in place. Just the friction from the rubber mat.
As for charging power, it seems to be about 2w. I have experience the battery level dropping while charging when energy intensive applications are being used (GPS, video streaming, etc). It also ends up with the phone battery getting very warm. As a result I have a charge cable in the armrest for days that the phone battery needs a faster boost. |
