In my opinion idrive 8 is better 8.5 has some cool features yes but i dont like the general layout i dont like how map is always there or you can have live vehicle show up or weather and music i personally prefer my idirve 8
I have a 23 M240I ID8 and my dad has a 24 X7 ID8.5 I can make a video on it later comparing both if you guys want more details but i think even YouTube will show you the main differences |

Overall all have pros and cons. I think the 8 WILL be updated at some point with some 8.5 features. BMW updates 7 still, 8 is still being sold on new cars so it won't be forgotten yet. Funny thing about that leather wheel cover comment, I was thinking of waiting for a 2025MY 3 or 4 series to order but that alone is making me consider just getting a 2024. |

I thought the rubber airbag cover of my '24 would bother me. It doesn't at all. I realized the center of my '74 2002 and the airbag cover of my '05 C325Ci were both rubber. The '74 was worse, the '05 was different, but about the same quality. I probably would still have preferred the non-rubber version, and might have even paid an additional $50 bucks or so to get it. But, in reality the ONLY time I ever think about the airbag cover is when I read this forum.
iDrive content: I must be old, but I spend all of my time looking out the window and almost no time looking at the screen. In my situation, I don't think 7, 8, or 8.5 would have made much of a difference. Last edited by tagoo; 02-28-2024 at 03:43 PM.. |

I wonder if these will get 9. I'm looking to put in an order the next few months. My CA told me it most likely would end up being a 2025 model. Haven't seen anything yet but I haven't research much on changes

Mate, trust me, you will love it. I am ordering mine now as well. For coupes, the iDrive 8 climate system works great, and it looks modern compared to iD7. When you've had some time with the car, I would love to hear your experience. Cheers!
