got a 765 cfm EGO leaf blower because it was on sale at Lowes. Is it bad for the car?

I was browsing Slickdeals(yes, a very dangerous hobby). Apparently Lowe's had the EGO 765cfm leaf blower on sale. The price was down to $299 and they even threw in an extra battery(2.5a 56v) in a free bundle. I could resist because I had been following the price of the blower for a while.

Stopped by Lowe's this afternoon and bought it. After fully charging the battery, I played with it. All I can say is WOW. The air coming out of this blower is so strong that I was able to dry the car in less than 5 minutes.(obviously the ceramic coating helped) None of my previous blowers, gas or cordless, could even compare.

However, it got me thinking. The air is unfiltered. The specs showed 200mph and it sure felt like it. With that kind of wind velocity, will I end up doing damage to the surface of the paint?

I had also been considering Metrovac car blower/dryer. It has a filter for the incoming... or is that not really necessary?

I have the same one. It won't damage your paint. My only 2 cents. Don't get the snub nose tube. I got one. After one use I went back to the factory tube.

It’s not going to damage your paint. You arent pouring sand into the air inlet. You are much more likely to get debris damage from driving down the interstate at 100 mph than blowing your car off in your clean drive.

do you mean one of those 3D printed short tubes?

or the 7.5-inch short tube that's made by EGO itself? I ordered one and it should be here tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up. I just got one too. The free battery makes it a good deal to pair with my other ego tools.

can't wait to wash the car and test it... but unfortunately it's been raining nonstop. I'm not dedicated enough yet to wash the car in the rain.(but I know some people who are)

Been using an EGO for years. Have the 580 and the new 765 with the EGO stubby. The EGO stubby is the way to go. Perfect fit and cheaper than the Apex air I have on the 580.

Here you go… yes, super durable for normal use. Easy cleaning with vacuum and mopping.

Thanks! I'll look into it. Was also thinking of having the garage floor done with some kind epoxy resin done... but got a quote of $4500. Didn't really feel like spending that kind of money. not to mention having to take everything out of the garage first

They are super loud at a high pitch if you hold it near your head for the roof etc. and go full blast, so I use it with ear protection.

You bet! I’ll never do epoxy again at least it humid Florida. My professionally applied floor peeled in less than a year. Waste of $3500 for a 3 car garage.

Which are you referring to as being loud? The EGO ones? I would love to get a car dryer, but I am looking for the ones that are not tooooo loud...

The Ego 650 is loud but it’s not bad when you’re drying lower panels. It’s pretty loud when you lift it to get the roof etc and it’s near your head. Supposedly the smaller are quieter.

I did a Polyaspartic flooring for a 2 car garage in SWFL 3 1/2 years ago.
Cost me $2280 including 5 inch baseboards around the whole garage and a waterproof base. Never been happier. Has held up beautifully.
I wish I did this in my former home in NJ years ago.
