Much has been said about the 930M wheels being cast and not forged. I've had my G87 a few weeks now and can't shake the notion that it feels a bit numb and heavy. I'm thinking lack of steering feel and overall weight are the two biggest culprits.

My question is this: if I go to wheels that are roughly 20 pounds a piece, am I really going to feel a significant difference in performance? Will it feel lighter on its feet? Or is it unrealistic to think the difference would be noticeable?

PS, side benefit of new wheels...these bad boys are a chore to clean.

Yes, you will feel the difference. Add in some stickier tires and u will get 2x the feel.

I went to forged 19x10.5 square on 285 AR-1s MASSIVE improvement over stock.

Also, make sure your tire pressure is set properly I had over inflated tires from the dealership, killed all feel.

You absolutely will, specially if you go down to 19-21lb/wheel.

Even on my G42 the difference between cast and forged wheels was like night and day.

I'm also considering moving to 19in square set up when it's time. Are there any other modifications required with that (brakes, tire pressure sensors, etc.), or is it as simple as just mounting the wheels and driving away?

What tires do you run now? Any recalibration required to get accurate readings on the speedo and odometer?

19x10.5 square 285/35/19 all 4 corners perfect fit no modifications at all. Speedo will register exactly the same.

Essentially, put wheels and tire onto car and drive off. No issues.

Keep this in mind...when its time for your first brake job, go with a quality aftermarket rotor that is lighter than the OEM rotors (think Girodisc), saving even one pound per rotor will make a noticeable difference.

The first purchase for my G87 were a set of takeoff G80 826M wheels - saves 18 lbs total. (Just a great deal with nearly new tires)

And my car is still in Mexico being built.

Second purchase will be the Antigravity battery in the spring to save 38lbs.

I hope I feel both. But betting I will feel the wheels more.

no speedo recall but everytime I switch between my street combo and track combo my car will flash a message that I have changed tires and I have to reset the TPS. It isn't hard but it is really annoying.

The battery will make the car lighter but not the same effect as shedding weight on wheels/brakes...reducing unsprung and rotating mass is the key.

Exactly! Inalso noticed a massive improvement in steering feel when I dropped the pressure to 32… dealer had them at 36 but it could’ve easily been temperature change

I had mine set at 38 PSI COLD by the dealership upon pickup, its supposed to be 32 COLD. If you want EVEN MORE feel 30-31 COLD is even better.

on 38 Cold I was like aww man this thing really does feel like doo doo, numb, no feedback blah blah.

As soon as I dropped it to 32, car came alive in terms of driving feel and feedback.

Yes you will , I changed my wheels this weekend and they are 10lns lighter in the front and 8lbs lighter in the back and the steering is so much better and light and it’s not as stiff as it was before with the ringlets . And the take of definitely quicker off the line than before
