Not G87 but I use my nav in the E90 whenever I need it. I wish I could find a more recent DVD map for it. Last DVD I got for it was in 2014.

Mostly BMW Nav since it works flawlessly with HUD.
I will use CarPlay running Waze along side a V1 when traveling long distances and running in excess of the speed limit. Last edited by T_U_D; 03-24-2023 at 08:47 PM.. |

CarPlay annoys me by automatically routing somewhere every single time I open it. Hoping there is a way to deactivate that, but still in the complaining phase, not yet reached the resolution phase.

I’ve tried them all, BMW nav by far was the most accurate and best integrated.
Apple Maps had a tendency to take me to the ‘back’ of locations, it’s visualisation also seems to ‘lag’ behind where you are ever so slightly (smoothing effect) which can cause confusion. Google Maps visualisations are nowhere near as clear as Apple Maps but it tends to have a more up-to-date ‘library’ of locations. Both Apple Maps and Google Maps also like to use crappy B-roads in the UK because maps says ‘60’ when in reality you can only do 30-40 half the time, sometimes even slower. I think BMW either uses some kind of road reputation or average speed ML in the background because it only seems to use roads that ‘make sense’. Been very impressed with my 5 years of ownership! |

Built-in BMW sat/nav (which is really the "HERE We Go" app/maps at its core) about, I'd say 80% of the time.
The other percentages are Apple Maps 10%, almost solely for the capability to "Share My ETA" as I like Apple's Maps in the car over the GOOG's. While both BMW's built-in & Apple Maps do a nice job with re-routing around traffic jams, the last 10% is Waze as sometimes I just get that feeling that Waze will be best for routing around problems in some traffic situations. |
