I stripped about an inch of wire folded it over itself and twisted it real tight until I had a small loop at the end. I put the loop around the pin in the shock and slipped a small heat shrink tubing over the pin and the wire. I did this for the other pin and then used some more heat shrink to go over both wires but inside the nut. Then some larger heat shrink over the wires and over the nut. Then I connected the wires to the stock plug that connects to the connector by the shock tower.

I installed KW HAS myself and didn't have any troubles with the EDC connectors. I have even taken them off and on multiple times while installing other things in the engine bay. Just gotta be gentle with them and not treat the car like a beater. Sucks that the shop fucked it up, they definitely should pay for it. Another reason why I never take my cars to any mechanic shops, DIY always.

Don’t they just pull right off or is there a proper way of pulling it out without damaging it?

I’ve never come across a BMW electrical connector that doesn’t have a lock of some form on it. Just pulling them straight off will likely break the lock. Best to consult the ISTA workshop info if it isn’t obvious on how to release the locks.

Had the same problem, broke the pins on top of my shock absorber strut, ended up replacing 1 of them, had the chassis error for 2 weeks, normal to feel bouncy because EDC isnt working, right after installing new strut, chassis error went away and car feels a lot smoother and comfortable. Check the connectors above your strut

Just finished replacing my springs. This is my 2nd bmw install with EDC. It’s sad that even pro installers mess things up. U can really only trust yourself this days to do a proper job. Anyway, before dropping the suspension pull the plug out. Give it a good feel and a firm grip and gently pull it right straight up. Again, firm but gentle, lol. Then before reinstalling, blow off that area with air to remove various material particles. Make sure you have a good handle on the plug itself and not the boot it’s covering it. Then make sure you line up the pins and it will actually have thin notches around it. Again firm but gentle, lol.

That’s a bit disingenuous. Speaking only to the Scottsdale/Phoenix metro area, there are at least a dozen “pro installers” here that perform work of this nature every day. I take my business to one of them and every appointment I’ve made they are full of M Competitions, Porsches, Lamborghinis, etc.

I’ve yet to return with a problem after service.
YMMV

It’s great that you have no issues taking it to Pros. I’m just speaking from my experiences and obviously nothing in general. But taking it to the experts, you would expect things to work right and complete when you get it back as you are giving them your good hard earned money. And I’m sure most of them are great but when things mess up they will usually wash there hands off or makes all sort of excuses because darn money runs things. All I’m saying is no one else cares best for your stuff but yourself so if you decide to diy you will most likely do a great job and if you mess up, no one else to blame but you.

No, they won’t, not if you do business with a reputable outfit.
Money does run things but it’s only made if you stay in business.
Wrong again.

PS- it’s “their”, not “there”
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the correction Mr. Right, you win!

You know what they say about people in glass houses...see you reply in post #31. You also have issues with the form of their/there...

Thanks to you as well for the emphasis. It’s a problem I’ve had all my life. Mixing up there and their, he and she, etc… Its not that I don’t know the difference but at my age and being retired I don’t really care much about it anymore when writing in forums. As long as you understand what I was trying to convey I thought that would be good enough without resulting into petty stuff. It’s probably because English is my second language and barely passing my classes in high school due to ADHD. I admit my English writing is not perfect and I’m not academically smart at all. But thank goodness, I still made it and enjoying life happily and comfortably. I hope this explains it. Happy Easter.

Btw, what does the saying about people in glass houses mean?

I have seen many customers from “oh, my friend or neighbor can do it” to “this shop that I took it, works on Super Cars”.

The early has higher chance, but the later is super mind blowing.

I have seen and have to fix many incidents, even from BMW dealers themselves.
