Street 30-32 cold.
On track target 34 hot all around, which means starting around 26 give or take.

Best advice I can offer is consult the car's owners manual and find the tire size on the car and take note of other variables: speed and if the car is fitted with the M Package; and use the recommended inflation pressure.

came back from sonoma raceway last weekend. I started from my house at 31 cold. and got to the track at 33-34. while waiting for my first session. my instructor told me to add another +2 all around. since it is rain/wet track. session finished at 38psi. I release -1 for the next session and -1 again for the following session after.
the last 3 sessions it was running 36-37 hot thoughout. with temp at avg 115-120F. It felt good he say most important is look at the sidewall arrow wear and not to go below it. But all of that depends on your outside weather and condition. it was in the 60F and rain/dry that day. |

Do you do track days at pace? If not, don’t worry about it. If yes you will quickly find out why as your tire pressures will go up by 8-10 PSI in a few laps on PS4S/PZERO. You start low to be at the proper pressure for the majority of the 20-30 min session.

My info is low tire pressure is set when the tires are cold. From my M2's owners manual: The tire inflation pressure specifications in the tire inflation pressure table only relate to cold tires or tires at the same temperature as the ambient temperature. Only check the tire inflation pressure levels when the tires are cold, i.e.: A distance traveled of max. 1.25 miles/2 km has not been exceeded. If the vehicle has not moved again for at least two hours after a trip. For use of the vehicle at speeds greater than 100mph the cold inflation pressures are a few PSI higher. It is possible that part of the increase in tire pressure you observe is because the tires are starting from a too low a cold pressure (26psi) and the tires are flexing way more because they are under inflated. With the cold pressure set to the proper pressure for speeds >100mph) the tires would flex less and thus not heat up so much. |
