It was closer to 41~42 pounds when I ran the numbers on paper. BMW, Apex, and tire manufacturers are all going to have some small variances in weight. Sadly, I’ll have to wait until next spring to find out myself.

[QUOTE=baron95;30368760]Is that 45lbs savings even a remote possibility?
I want to run a square set up, interested in the lightest wheels that would fit a 295 or 285 square set with no spacers. I think you can probably do that with the Apex 18x10.5 vs5rs with a 285. They required spacer for front clearance with 305 on the front but you may get away with it with a 285. -GT3M2 |

Dang, these 930m wheels are cast and Chinese made?
Well anyone needing a quick way to get rid of their silly 19' cast Chinese made wheels (in black) can trade me for my 20", or let me take them off of your hands for a reasonable $ amount. |

My weight savings will be exactly 4lbs for each front wheel and exactly 5 lbs for each rear wheel. Total of exactly 18.0 lbs. Not very exciting, but it is something. (lets see if this rotating and unsprung thing is really noticeable. I'll get my lap times with 930Ms than with 826Ms and see if there is a difference. But first I need to get my car - LOL.

I hear you on hard to clean wheels - I think 824Ms are prob the easiest followed by 826M. 930M seems to be impossible to clean But I agree with you - give me a simple design any day.

That was my plan too. But today I just spent waaaay too much time cleaning the OEM wheels. My knees are telling me I should replace them with something easier to clean.

What sucks about the cast wheel is that it actually looks pretty damn amazing. These wheels are the best ones in the current lineup design-wise. Like, by a long shot. Look at the concavity and the design elements, they're sick.

AFAIK, the 825Ms do not come in bicolor, though. Overall I like the design, but it is a sumbitch to clean. |

Just stumbled upon this video that confirms BMW M wheels are forged with exception of the cost cutting on the G87. Style 826M wheels however which come on the G80/2 are forged. They're made by wheel manufacturer Super Alloy Industrial (SAI) in Taiwan.
You can see the 826M wheels 8m25s into the video at their forged alloy wheel factory. They also have a picture of the 826M wheels in their Technology section under Step 4, Painting. Another cool thing is they also manufacture the Toyota Supra wheels which they have listed under BMW. Quote:

Also found this PDF where they showcase the 826M wheel as a net shape forged wheel.
Net shape wheels are forged as close as possible to the actual design decreasing the amount of final processing needed for high volume orders and also decreases cost. They are however still fully forged wheels. |

SAI also makes the forged F9x M5/M6 M Performance wheels (with the holes in the spokes) and G2x 3/4 Series. |
